No, you won’t see Beyonce and Jay-Z on a yacht. You won’t be partying with supermodels until dawn at a beachside club. But you also won’t be paying premium prices, you’ll have the place all to yourself, and you may even come away with a sun-kissed face! It’s the French Riviera in winter, and it’s glorious.
First, there is Nice. It’s a good idea to make this chilled-out city on the sea your base, as it’s well connected by train and bus to pretty much anywhere you want to go along the Riviera. And there’s also plenty to do in town as well – from a stroll on the Promenade des Anglais to the view on Chateau Hill on a clear day to enjoying some winter sun at a cafe in the Cours Saleya, the main square of the Old Town.
