We changed to the West Rim Tour at the last minute. We decided we were only going to be there once, so took the Helicopter and Skywalk options - glad we did, gave you a whole different perspective from the bottom off the Canyon. Our tour bus driver Ziggy was fantastic. West Rim Tour also returned to Las Vegas approximately 3 hours earlier than the South Rim Tour did.
Fabulous value, great views for day trip.
The ride to Grand Canyon and back was quite pleasant. Our driver was very knowledgable and entertaining. The sites were spectacular. We were lucky enough to have a full moon to add on to the splendor.
This tour was bad right from the beginning. We were given wrong instructions on where we were to be picked up and when we realized, we called and they accused us of getting it wrong rather then the person I spoke to giving me the wrong instructions. That started it all off wrong. When we finally go there, we felt like we were part of a herd of cattle, as we along with our fellow passengers were herded from line to line, and then finally allowed to board our extremely crowded bus. There was absolutely no personal touch on this tour, so if you are looking for that, don't book this one. The trip to the Canyon and back was long and tedious - 4 1/2 hours each way. The only redeeming factor was the videos the driver put on that helped pass the time. We also didn't have a good experience with our driver - she was quite condescending and rude at times. We are from Canada, and she made a note of saying to the whole bus, that Canadians were cheap when it came to the tip at the end of the bus ride. Not the best way to get tips, especially when there were several Canadians on the bus. She also wouldn't let us on the bus at our last stop - it had turned quite cool as the sun was setting and we were all freezing and she refused to open the doors, telling us later that she couldn't because of a park regulation. However, the bus driver for the bus next to us was letting his passengers on, so that explanation did not make sense.
This tour stopped at the Hoover Dam for 15 minutes which is a complete waste of time - you spend the 15 minutes walking to and from the spot where you can see the dam. It would be better to take a separate tour to the dam then do this in our opinion. They should cut this out of their tour. There were other things about this tour we didn't like but I'm running out of the space provided. So we recommend you DO NOT waste your money on this tour. It is less expensive then other tours for a reason.
It was a very pleasant tour, the persons in charge were very kind, friendly and the driver was also very funny,he made the trip mor comfortable telling jokes and illustrating about the facts along the trip.I highly recommend viator to book trips everywhere.
It was a very pleasant tour.
It was a very pleasant tour.We had the opportunity to admire this wonder.Every person in Viator was very kind and knowledgeable about the area.If I will book again a trip with Viator
Nice trip to Grand Canyon. Driver was very nice.
Nice trip to Grand Canyon. Driver was very nice.
Long drive but well worth the time. The Grand Canyon is of course out of this world beautiful. Our guide was funny and informative and her personality made the trip go smoothly. Would recommend this tour to my friends. We went in the last week of Oct and we researched the whether in the Grand Canyon for that time of year. A nice warm jacket with a hat and gloves came in handy as it is a little chilly.
Just what I wanted and expected! How could I complain about that?
The trip in general was fine and entertaining. Although the way to the South Rim was long (ca. 4 Hrs) the driver did his best in entertaining the guests. The view of the Grand Canyon made me realise it was a worthy trip. Nevertheless, I had some problems with the bus picking me up from my hotel to the dispatching point. This happened two times, which was not kind of nice. They never showed up! So I had to take a cab and go directly to the dispatching location. An adventure! Nevertheless, the lady at the counter was so nice to pay the taxi fare.
The stop for the CineMax is not worthhile. We spent 2 valuable hours there, which it would have been much better if we spent them in the Canyon. The time there is kind of limited (2.5 Hrs), pretty hectic in enjoying the view.
The scenery itself made this worth doing. I suggest first timer to go for the south rim because it is more expansive and just magnificent. We got less time than stated at the sites, but I felt that was enough for us. The pickup driver was late but did a better job introducing Vegas than tour driver.
It was just ok for me, maybe its because the bus ride was dreadfully long, the lunch was awful and and the break break both times, were McDonalds.
Thankfully I have been to the west rim of the Grand Canyon before and I enjoyed that.
Nothing really to rave about this your to the south rim
It is a good tour for the money and time without the optional upgrades but read more if you want to know what to expect. The tour is mostly as described. If you are like me and don't like to drive, it is a good way to see the Grand Canyon if you are in Las Vegas and you don't have more than one day and don't mind spending 10 hours on a bus in one day.
The bus was comfortable but NOT a double decker, the bus driver was a driver NOT a guide.
I took the option of the helicopter ride which means that the National Geographic center was NOT part of my tour. I do NOT recommend the helicopter option, it is short and not worth the money.
Showing old movies on the bus is fine but the sound was too loud and people (me) could not nap during the long drive.
Grand Canyon is good and the views were worth the long drive on the Bus. We left Hotel at 6:40AM (against 6:15AM, had to wait 25 min. outside the hotel) and came back at 11:20PM. However, the operator could have planned it better, and could have saved ~ 2 hours off the trip. Why all buses have to stop at McDonald. When we reached, there were 3 buses at the same time. How can such a restaurant handle ~160 persons (One Bus was double Decker) in 1/2 hour. There were other places close by, where they could have stopped. They could stop at National Geographic Society only 45 min. against 1 1/2 hour for us (Because Driver was late for 1:30 Show)
They stop at 2 places in Grand Canyon for 1 hour each to see the views.
On the whole, it was good tour except for tiring journey and waste of time at couple of places.
