Main commentary was in German not English. Stops were not clearly signposted. Staff were very friendly though.

Doing what: Hamburg Riverside Tour - Elbe River
We toured in a bus. If i wish to visit a river I wish to be on the river and not look at expensive houses I can't afford and for no reason. I ended up paying for another tours on the river that was wonderful and that I will recommend.

Overall was a good introduction to the city and the harbor, duration of both was right.

Buses very cold even when covered. Commentary by a live person who was geared toward German tourists and not easily understood by English speakers. Felt out of place. Didn't enjoy at all. Tour centered on buildings and red light district, really because Hamburg isn't much of interest at all.

Avoid - does not really give you a good sense of what Hamburg is like. More for the German visitors and those who like being herded round, not for the genuine traveller.

If you have half a day to spend in Hamburg, this is a good option. The terminal is directly outside the train station and you'll get a brief overview of the city.

Overall it was great. Good prices and nice tour to do. The one thing is that to start the journey I needed to find where to issue the main ticket - could not start Alster boat trip first because needed to go main station to get all 3 tickets. But the rest was superb.

We enjoyed the tours as they were a great way to see different aspects of Hamburg. We had a lot of difficulty understanding the bus tour and harbour cruise as little English was spoken, if any. The Lake tour was excellent, we were given headphones in English.

A great way to see the city and the tour guides we ended up with were very good. After the tour we felt comfortable to navigate on our own the rest of the time.

Tour was a very good value. The only problem was that, only knowing English, I would hear the tour guide say paragraphs in German about the tour, and when it was translated it to English, it would end up being a single sentence--I would imagine because the tour guides are not very fluent in English. But overall the tour was great.

We were disappointed in this tour, not anything like Berlin's. You had a tour guide that spoke German and English. First guide kept asking if anybody needed English, seemed like he didn't want to speak English. Second guide spoke German for ten minutes and then one sentence of English. Third guide spoke German the entire time, no English. Did not stop at every stop and did not even slow down to get a good picture. With the language problems, we never knew what building, etc. they were talking about. Sometimes we were completely past the sight when they would say something in English.
