The name of the exact company was not easily identified on the itinarary. There were several boats to choose from, it was confusing. All worked out well after several inquires with differenty companies.
This was a pretty good cruise.... because it was later in the season, it took awhile to see a whale, but it was worth it when we did- we were able to see a mother teaching her new calf how to breach.
This was an awesome Whale watch, we followed a Mom and Baby whale for 1 1/2 hrs. The staff was very friendly and full of knowledge. I would take this again when in Hawaii...
It was a shame that it was the end of the season so we didn't get to see that much action, in fact we saw more whales and dolphins on our snorkel trip 2 days before. The commentary from the guys from the whale foundation was very interesting and they made an effort to engage with the kids, who may not understand the higher level sciencey bits. Great trip will recommend but don't wait till the end of the season.
We probably saw 20 whales. Our guide led a very informative tour. Snacks and beverages were for sale. To keep the animals as safe as possible, the ship has to keep a reasonable distance, so if you are bringing a camera, I recommend a telephoto lens.
I found this trip very exciting. We saw two sets of competitive pods (males fighting for the female). Crew was great. We went on the 12:00 noon boat. There were only about 15 people on the boat so we didn't have the crowds like the earlier boats. Great trip. Would highly recommend.
Great captain and plenty of opportunities to see active humpbacks in January...even watched a mother teaching her calf how to splash its tail. A little disappointed that we were "upgraded" to a larger boat due to the fact that a cruise ship had docked and off loaded a huge amount of passengers. Regardless, the larger boat was still able to get us out and among the whales quiet well.
We had a great time on the boat and got to see whale come right up to the boat. The guide was very informative and the boat was top notch. This is a must see trip when in Maui during Whale season.
excellent and entertaining guides; great skipper who found many whales; of course, beautiful weather as a bonus
Enjoyed this trip and did indeed see humpback whales. The ship was brilliant with plenty of room and amenities. Would certainly recommend this trip to to others.
absolutely brilliant.well organised and very good guide on board who was informative and enthusiastic.saw loads of whales and a large pod of spinner dolphins.highly recommended
