I really enjoyed visiting Helsinki. Different buildings- a mix of both old and new. Lots of different things to do here. Very expensive city, however, there are supermarkets everywhere so you can pick up cheaper food (than buying at restaurants/cafes). Public transport is excellent, however expensive too. It is worth buying a day ticket, as it pays for itself in three rides. I only used the trams, which was very good to get around. The 3T tram is very good for sightseeing.
City tour using the Helsinki Card was excellent and the ability to use the card for public transport and discounts was most convenient.
A good card in principle but it was hard to get your money's worth; especially at the time of year we went. We bought a two day card with the intention of using it to see the submarine and military museum in suomenlinna but they were both closed on the sunday we went in September. We did however use it on the ferry a couple of times and went on the audio tour which was good. Didnt use it at all on any other form of public transport though as the city is all walking distance and the tram map we had didnt have clear streets on it so we only found our tram stop as we were leaving to go to Estonia!
Excellent! Again, we wasted time finding the tourist bureau in the rain! We should have the cards mailed before we left!. Dean/Gail Savell
This was a great deal for us. We purchased it to go along with our cruise. The tourist information pickup was convenient and easy to find. We used the card to take a city tour and used it for the metro. We didn't have enough time in Helsinki since our ship departed at 5pm, but I would probably use this card again.
Great idea! Saved a lot of time and money! Unfortunately though, my 3rd day fell on a Monday (alot of museums and sites were closed) but the unlimited transport and the city tour were excellent!
It was a great way to see Helsinki. We used it to take the ferry out to Suomenlinne, took a guided tour there, then we took the ferry back, and took an audio bus tour of the city. It was a fabulous day!
Helsinki's coastline and harbours are fantastic, and there is plenty to do and see. The people are very friendly. The Helsinki Card was very good for transport and attractions, and I would highly recommend it.
A waste of money for only 1 day. Not very useful if you're on a cruise or don't go to museums. Try a "Hop On Hop Off" bus instead.
