Doing what: Hobart Half-Day Sightseeing Coach Tram Tour
Much of any tour is dependent upon the tour guide. In Hobart we had an excellent guide who knew the city, the state and its history. After the four hours we felt that we saw the primary sites, got a good impression of home styles and understood what we saw in the context of Tasmanian history.

Doing what: Day Trip to Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site from Hobart
Although it was windy and a little cool for the season this was a great trip. The company is well organised and has excellent staff. The highlight was boat trip with magnificent scenery, seals, dolphins and killer whales as well as a myriad of seabirds. The boats are well equipped and passengers are given full protective suits against the weather. The crew were attentive and knowledgeable. The only downside of the trip was the fact that our small bus had a flat tyre on the way out from Hobart, disrupting the schedule. The tyre looked quite worn and the jack was inadequate for the job.

Doing what: Full-Day Tasman Peninsula Tour from Hobart
It was real nice and easy and amazingly beautiful. The tour operator on-road tour Guide Phil and Boat Skipper Ben and guide Yanni were awesome too. Definitely recommend it and might be going back soon.

Doing what: Tasmania Super Saver: Hobart Sightseeing Coach Tram Tour plus Port Arthur Tour
The Port Arthur Tour was my second visit and one highly recommended. It's a place that's very special and you feel the history and presence of 'convicts past' as you walk around the very large site. There's too much to do in one day (hence my return visit after many years). The drive from Hobart showed the effects of the Summer's bushfires and the devastation caused but nature was already re-establishing itself and many houses were in the process of being re-built. The tour was very good value and if you're interested in Social History (like myself), a 'must' to have an insight into Tasmania's past.
The Coach Tram Tour of Hobart was an extra and, although a novel experience, a bit disappointing. The tram was 'off-road' which meant having a minibus alternative, but the advantage of this is, we had access to the narrow streets of Battery Point, a significant historical part of the city. A visit to the Botanical Gardens was wonderful. Overall the tour was fine as an introduction to the sights and sounds of Hobart!

If the weather is nice then you can see great cliffs and have fun. Port Arthur is not worth it but if you go to the woods there are some nice bays, perfect for photo shooting.

Doing what: Tasmania Super Saver: Hobart Sightseeing Coach Tram Tour plus Port Arthur Tour
Great combined value. Two worthwhile tours.
City tour was on a modern coach as the tram was being repaired. However, that was probably a better option as the temperature was 29C and an air-conditioned coach was desirable. Both trips were very informative about the culture of Tasmania.

Doing what: Hobart Half-Day Sightseeing Coach Tram Tour
Definitely a whirlwind tour. The guide was very knowledgeable but just too fast. This tour needs to start earlier to allow it to move along at a slower pace for people to get their bearings and actually see the landmarks that are being shown.

Doing what: Hobart Half-Day Sightseeing Coach Tram Tour
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour of Hobart. The coach driver was extremely interesting and well informed. It was a good mixture of sitting in the coach and strolling through some of the sites. We certainly got a feel of life in Hobart years ago and its history. Value for money.

The tour was excellent, giving us a great overview of Hobart. The driver/commentator had a wealth of interesting information which he imparted with humour and a sense of pride in the history of his home town. We really appreciated being dropped back at our cruise ship after the tour so we could link up with shuttle buses to our next destination. Highly recommended.
