Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
Was good; you go to different places in the island, and you get to know other places near Hong Kong and something traditional about the Buddha. Good experience.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
This tour is a good way to get out of the crowded city of Hong Kong. You visit a lovely beach area, then see the very impressive giant Buddha. The return is by gondola, which sweeps from a newly renovated touristic village over virgin countryside back to the city. At the terminus of the gondola is a new public swimming facility; had I been prepared, I would have left the tour at the end for a jump in a pool!

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
The tour was good overall. The locations are really great, and they fit well together -- fishing village, beach, and Giant Buddha. Lunch was fantastic. The tour guide was a disappointment. She made it very clear she is experienced, and we were 'lucky' to have her services, but I found myself embarrassed for her. The swastika anecdote just went on too long, and bordered on offensive. She does seem to be a bit obsessed by it. I would have preferred a short explanation, and perhaps move on to the other pieces of symbolism in the Buddhist tradition.

Great intro of Tai O village and Lantau island. The vegetarian lunch was very filling and delicious. The Buddha scene and the tramp ride are amazing.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
It was a great trip but cable cars werent working so missed out on that.Tour guide was excellent and very informative but i would have liked longer at the beach which was stunning, 15mins was nothing! The food on the trip was very nice indeed and the Big Buddhe truly beautiful. The day did feel a bit rushed and to be honest rather than them squeeze another tour in which they did in the afternoon, we should have had longer. Good trip, but you could do it yourself even better! Just take the ferry or MTR to the island and cable car ride to buddha. To access the beach, local bus or cab from the town as is isnt very far. The beach was truly beautiful.

Friendly and efficient. Tour bus goes to the top so everyone can make it to see the Buddha.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
The trip was very well organised and the Guide was quite informative. One thing I would love to have stayed more time in the Giant Buddha Temple. As they have to leave as per the schedule we left the place.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
Nice day out and a good mix of things to do. Quite a lot of steps at the Giant Buddha, but our tour bus took us to the top at the start, so most of the steps were downhill.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
Loved this trip, we could have skipped the Ferry ride and just done the cable going and leaving. Also would have loved to have more time at the Giant Buddha place. Our guide was very good.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
Excellent Day! Guide was a local and was full of useful information and facts..English was almost perfect!...Coach was modern and comfortable...Stop at beach wasn't really necessary, however view was OK...Stop of Fishing Village and ride on local boats through Water Stilts House was excellent! Stop at Buddha was good, however was very short and no Photos allowed inside...For a Vegitirian lunch, this was good...some spare time after lunch to walk around monistery etc..Best Photos of Buddha are from here, from a distance...Cable Car wasn't working due to routine maintenance It would have been good if we were advised of this before going, cause this wast he main reason we booked this tour...We were only advised when we received tour voucher waiting for us at hotel with note stappled to back of it...kind of poor communication from operating touring Company..Tour East Hong Kong...However Great Day!

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
This tour could have been the highlight of our Hong Kong holiday, but unfortunately the weather was against us and the cable car was out of service. The ferry ride and bus trip along the coastline was very interesting and showed a quieter and less populated side of Hong Kong life. However, when we reached the top of the mountain a thick fog had set in. We were taken to the base of the Buddha and could see it towering in the mist above us but when we went down to the Monastery for our lunch we could see nothing of it, I couldn't even tell in which direction I should be looking or where the massive staircase started. Lunch at the Monastery was tasty and plentiful and I think everyone at our table enjoyed it. Our tour guide Ben was very informative and all said and done it was a good day out.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong
Overall good experience; guide a little unengaged, off smoking, could have given more precise directions about where to meet and visible at meeting place, etc. Would have been nice to have had more time at top of Giant Buddha mountain; felt a little rushed.

This is a really good tour. The fishing village and the Giant Buddha were interesting and the vegetarian lunch delicious. The cable car ride was awesome with spectacular views of the island. Overall the day was well planned and the guide friendly and helpful.
