Great trip, views from the Giant Buddha and cable car are wonderfull.

Everything was well planned. Picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Didn't feel the trip to the beach was really necessary, but really enjoyed fishing village, giant buddha, monastery lunch and cable car ride down the mountain. Guide was very good too. A great way to spend our one full day in Hong Kong.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong

Great tour and good tour leaders, The Giant Buddha, tour of the Lantau island, and the lunch at the Monastery was exceptional. Whilst it was a group tour, you were made feel like the only people on the tour.

Would highly recommend this tour to everyone visiting Hong Kong.

We visited the water village and the giant buddha. We also had a good view of interesting places in lantau.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong

I enjoyed the tour but was very disappointed while travelling to Lantau Island there was no commentary about the scenery and any history of Hong Kong. When I go on a tour I want to learn about the place. The fishing village and Buddhist Temple were the highlight of the day. The commentary we got on the island by the guide was excellent and engaging.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong

Had a great time. Giant Buddha, fishing village and cable car were all awesome. All Guides were very helpful and informative and spoke excellent English. Recommend doing this trip with a guide especially since get extra access to the Giant Buddha and fishing village.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. As some reviews point out you could do it cheaper if you went by yourself but with a guide you get some background and stories/history as well, which makes the trip more special. (Our guide Ryan was both very informative and funny)
Yes, it takes a little while to gather everyone up but unless you're in a massive hurry to rush through all the sites of HK, then it's not a major factor.
The visit to the beach, although not of any major historical significance is very scenic and the stop is only brief. The fishing village was worth visiting seeing how the villages live in their huts and sell produce in the markets while the buddha is brilliant (and having Ryan there to explain things and ask questions was great).
The lunch was very very enjoyable, a fantastic meal.
The cable car ride end the day was amazing, the length of the ride and views were great.

I lived in Hong Kong ten years ago, so I didn't really need a tour. But seeing Lantau is huge and the different transport methods can require a lot of coordination. This trip had everything taken care of, which was excellent. Between Cheung Sha Beach, Tai O fishing village, Ngong Ping Village, etc, this tour helped us see everything.

We did the tour on a Wed so the group was quite small, maybe 12 people total. It was nice to be in a small group like that. I think the value is good for all you see in one day.

Also, we didn't stay at a hotel on the list, but they still picked us up at our hotel. We even had a welcome package waiting at our hotel when we checked in from the tour group. I appreciated all of that.

A nice escape from the city centre, the visit to the fishing village was an unexpected highlight for me, felt like we were in real China for a bit. The Buddha is an amazing sight but the monastry and surrounding area was all a bit too "Disney" for us. The cable car trip has amazing views, very smooth and peaceful, but not for the feint hearted. Lunch was different, but not to many people's taste

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong

An amazing day from start to finish, a must do!!! We travelled to Lantau Island and went to see the village on stilts, which was magical. The visit to the Giant Buddha will be remembered forever. The vegetarian banquet was lovely and our tour guide Ryan was such good company and his jokes weren't too bad either. The trip down in the cable car was certainly spectacular and stunning scenery. Would recommend this trip to anybody visiting Hong Kong.

When I phoned the local office to confirm my booking the staff were extremely helpful with regards to my pick up point as the hotel I was staying at was not on the list of pick ups. The trip itself was excellent - the guide was extremely informative and also entertaining. It was definitely worth the money - you would not have seen as much of Lantau Island, that the trip offered, if you had visited it independently as the island is so remote with only the 2 roads. The Buddha was incredible to see and the cable ride was fun. Also, even though the food offered at the monastery was vegetarian it was delicious. Well done for an excellent tour.

Doing what: Lantau Island and Giant Buddha Day Trip from Hong Kong

Our trip was as we expected, all in time, the guide Queen very kind and giving us a lot of information. When we approach to the Buddha can not beleive its magnitude, wow impressive. The vegetarian lunch at the monastery was ok, and to complete the cable car trip wow!!! let us without breath the amazing view . Really is something you can not lose and to remember forever. Thanks

Excellent trip. The guide was very good and the visit to the old fishing village was an experience not to be missed as was the Giant Buddha. Lunch at the monastery although vegetarian was a revelation and very enjoyable and the cable-car ride was amazing and brought a perfect day to an end. Our only criticism, which was not really part of the trip, was the driver who took us back to the hotel - he was probably the worst driver we had ever come across and several people complained at the time. Otherwise, the trip was one of the best that we have taken and we have travelled all over the world.

My husband and I are in our 40's and wanted a stop over in Hong Kong before returning to Australia. I booked this tour well in advance and was so glad I did. It was very educational our tour guide was excellent. He had a great sence of humour and lots of knowledge on all what we saw. Lunch was lovely, the big buddha well worth it. Overall we would highly recommend this tour. Thank you. Lesley&Craige, Melbourne, Australia
