Trip Planning & Itineraries

Clear. Refreshingly cool.
7 day forecast »
Hong Kong has the big city specials like smog, 14 million elbows and an insane love of clatter. But it's also efficient, hushed and peaceful: the transport network is excellent, the shopping centers are sublime, and the temples and quiet parks are contemplative oases.
Just remember: Hong Kong is about savoring new tastes, weaving through a human gridlock and humming some dumb Cantopop tune while slurping your noodles.

Hong Kong 3-Day Itinerary
Hong Kong has enough towering urbanity, electric streetscapes, enigmatic temples, commercial fervor and cultural idiosyncrasies to utterly swamp the senses of a visitor, and enough spontaneous, unexpected possibilities to make a complete mockery of any attempt at a strictly organized itinerary. That said, here's our best shot.
Day 1: Victoria Peak & Admiralty
Catch a tram up to Victoria Peak for a good view of the city and stretch your legs on a summit circuit before lunching at the Peak Lookout. Back down at sea level, stroll through Hong Kong Park and visit the Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware before continuing through to Pacific Place in Admiralty for a spot of shopping. Carry on to Wan Chai for a sundowner or two and a meal, for the views.
Day 2: Tsim Sha Tsui & Kowloon
Take the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui (the ferry is a great local experience) and visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art or the Hong Kong Museum of History. Then have yum cha at Wan Loong Court in the Kowloon Hotel, then do some shopping along Nathan Road until you?re ready for afternoon tea at the Peninsula Hong Kong. Also worthwhile is a wander up to Yau Ma Tai for the Temple Street night market, where the open-air Cantonese opera entertainment and street food is a treat.
Day 3: Central & Wan Chai
Wander around Central and Sheung Wan, poking your head into traditional shops before lunching and visiting a few galleries in Soho. Take a tram to Wan Chai for a night of Chinese Opera or some theater at the Hong Kong Arts Center, then have a nightcap at a Wai Chan bar. Alternatively Day 3 can be your 'day trip' day. Our picks: Choose between a visit to Macau or to Lantau and its Tian Tan Buddha.
