Ireland in Winter

As the days get shorter and the weather colder, Ireland might not seem like the most appealing place to spend the winter, but fewer crowds and cheaper prices make it a perfect time to explore.

Visiting Ireland’s many castles is a popular pastime during the winter and there’s no better place to escape the stormy weather than inside a medieval fortress. The majestic Dunguaire Castle is one of the most picturesque, perched atop a grassy promontory off the coast off Kinvarra in Western Ireland; visitors flock to kiss the famed Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle; or else Bunratty Castle hosts medieval banquets in its lavish banquet hall.
