our private tour guide was very good and she covered everything and got us in easily when necessary.....she led us thru the grand bazaar and then returned us back to the hotel...the driver navigated quite well through the busy streets. Her name was Sylvia and lunch was very good.
It was a most enjoyable tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and never rushed. The vehicle was comfortable . It gave us a great overview of Istanbul in one full day. This was our first time in this great city. One suggestion---have ear phone -microphone connections with the guide. In large areas some words from the guide were missed as one was taking pictures. In all, I would not hesitate recommending the tour or Viator.
Our guide was very experienced and had a lot of knowledge . We went to some lovely sites and had a great time
An excellent way to get to know the important sights!
The tour was nice and some issues need to be resolved in order to be highly recommended.
The guide (Mr. Omer) would be better if could accompany the group in order to show details of the sites (i.e. Haghia Sophia), otherwise the quick talk through the main things to see in a landmark worked just fine on the sites where group walking was not possible (i.e. the chambers in Topkapi palace).
Topkapi palace visit was not complete because the harem section was not visited. The wasted time in the carpet shop (it was not mentioned anywhere in the itinerary and was a complete waste of time) could have been used for the harem section in Topkapi palace.
Another issue is that we had the lunch and the visit to the underground cistern and almost stumbled over the Million, but the guide did not mention anything about this landmark, it is a pity to stand 5 metres away and not mention it at all. Same could be said for Cemberlitas (Constantine'e column and Cemberlitas hamam built by Mimar Sinan), they could have been mentioned on the way to/from Kapali carsi (Grand Bazar).
could be done by myself
Even though the guide was very nice and informative, this tour could have been a lot better with minor management changes. The time management again was very desapointing and at the end it seemed this is not the guide's problem but the logistics of the company. First the tour happened in the morning, not the afternoon, which spoiled some plans I had made before. Than I was picked up even before the time arranged, and from my hotel to picking up a couple in another hotel until finally meeting the guide and arriving in the first attraction (Grand Bazaar) it took more than one hour, we spent a lot of time in the van stop in the middle of the city waiting things to happen. We spent too much time in the van and in the Grand Bazaar (the least interesting attraction of the tour), even though the guide rushed inside sometimes, we spent too less time in both Hagia Sophia and the Cistern. In total we had two hours for the three attractions. In the end I found out this time issue was due to the fact that they accomodated me in a group that had other places to go in the afternoon, which was rather annoying because I didn't want to make a tour full of attractions because I wanted to make sure I would have time to see it all, but it didn't make any difference since I was in a tour where things were rushed. The day after the tour I went back to Hagia Sophia because during the tour we missed an extremely important part of Hagia Sophia, which is the second floor where you can see the byzantine mosaic panels, this was very desapointing.
We really enjoyed our tour, our guide was excellent, and our lunch was too. We would recommend Viatour to our friends. No future travel plans at this time.
A guia foi competente e simpática.
The tour bus was punctual in picking me-up from my hotel. It was a long day of sight-seeing and the weather was not the best. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour; the guide was informative and we covered all but one of the sights. The Grand Bazaar was closed so we took a little longer at lunch, which was included in the cost of the tour. We had only 11 other people on the tour which made for an intimate group of travelers. If you have the time, I recommend taking this all-day tour.
great tour, our guide Tibet was amazing full of great info about the culture and politics of Turkey.
A great pace and very informative tour. Great way to get your bearings and then start out on your own.
Excellent tour and guide. Recommend to anyone visiting Istanbul for the first time
Istanbul is a very beautiful, old city and you wish you have all the time in the world to explore every part of it. The 1 day tour was a good enough option if you only have 1 day to visit as it touches on the major sights. Gul was very knowledgeable and was able to provide us with interesting information about the places we visited. It was a lot of walking as expected that is why somehow I don't understand the need for us to be picked up in a van in the morning as we were not dropped back at our hotels at the end of our tour, when we could have met Gul at an agreed location instead.
Generally it was ok,a touris guide was nice ,poliet with good knowledge about touris spots, I was a liitle bit disapointed for replacement of grand bazzar with spicy bazar, but i understood that was regular replacement due to opening days- we booked trip for sunday,6th of october. Also in top kapi palace we didnt manage to see hurlem,I suppose because of big crowd
Main notice is about taxi which we were waiting for 25 min in front of the ramada hotel, although he passed behind us several times. Also at the and of tour taxi drop off us in main street 15metare before ramada hotel ,insted in front of our hotel -cumbaly luxury hotel or ramada hotel.
