Our tour was wonderful. The guide did a wonderful job explaining each of the locations and was very helpful at managing our time in each spot so that we could see everything.
Well organized, smallish group. Excellent tour guide. Would highly recommend
Gulay our guide was amazing. Great way to learn about Istanbul's major sites. We had a hicup at the begining but the company did a great job addressing the issue.
great trip our guide was exceptional we would use your co. again thank you
Excellent Tour, our Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, highly recommended if on a short visit to
This is worth taking as they take you to the major sites and our guide also told us about the hippodrome which was very interesting!! We had been looking for it on our own but couldn't find it. Our guide was very knowledge about the tour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad we took it!!
This is a great tour, you see all the major sites, and sort of get a lay of the land also!! The Hagia Sophia and the basillica cistern were the highlights for me!! Wear socks and shoes as you have to take your shoes off to see the mosque and ladies take a scarf and wear a t-shirt with sleeves or take a light sweater,
The tour was well organised. The pick up was on time. The driver was very friendly. The coach was very clean and comfortable. The lunch was wonderful. There were only 11 people in the group, that was great...but I was not happy with the tour guide. She did not have any guiding skills. The guide seemed to be knowledgeable but she was not enthusiastic to share her information. I spent only two days in this amazing city but one of those days was spoilt by the uninformative tour. When someone approached her to ask a question regarding the history she got irritated. Everyone was very upset to be brought to the carpet center instead of visiting Blue Mosque earlier. I am sure the company has professional guides but I was not lucky to be on the tour conducted by one of them.
The Hagia Sophia is an absolute must see and going with a tour means avoiding the long lineups. The Basillica Cistern was also worth a view. However those are the only good things I can say about this tour.
Our tour started quite a bit later than planned and our guide did not seem very enthusiastic about his work. He would give the group a short preamble before each site and then send us to wander on our own while he would wait for us at the exit. We also found out that the Grand Bazaar was closed due to a High Holiday and he led us to believe that he was taking us, instead, to see a second Cistern. In fact we ended up herded into a carpet shop where we were given a short demonstration of carpet making which was then to be followed-up by a major sales pitch. Many of us in the group felt conned. Three of us managed to escape and go instead to a local restaurant to grab a beer and some much need laughs. We did have to give up the free drive home, that was offered as part of our package, but not one of us regretted getting away. The Half Day Imperial Tour could have been very, very good, under different circumstances, but this particular day was not worth the money!
Excellent tour that covers all the main sights of Istanbul if you aren't there for long. It was a long day but I would highly recommend it.
Very good tour. Guide was very knowledgeable. Food was also quite good with vegetarian options. I would recommend this very much.
Doing what: Istanbul City Tour
We lucked out with a private tour - only the two of us. Guide was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. All three sites are worth visiting, we had no wait because our guide had tickets, and we went directly in to both the Hagia Sophia and Basiillica Cistern even though there were extremely long lines. Worth it to book a tour! Our guide helped us to wind out way through the Grand Bazaar and had some good tips for us. This tour enhanced our visit to Istanbul.
Excellent tour with very knowledgeable guide. The only down side was being taken to a carpet shop which felt like a waste of time which could have been better spent at the Grand Bazzar where we only had a very short time.

This overview of the Old City was comprehensive and Omar was terrific. He was very informative and interesting--open to questions both historical and current. This is an amazing area everyone should see. It was a FULL day and definitely worth doing.
Excellent tour! We were a small group and the guide was amazing. She even helped us out at the end of the tour to visit other places and gave us good tips.
It was a great attraction to see these historical places and we were impressed with what we saw. Hagia Sophia was monumental and the Blue Mosque was epic. But what really blew me away was the Topkapi palace. The Ottomans had quite a collection of Islamic relies which were handed over to the current generation. It was astounding to see these historical items first had. The guide was a great help, explaining names as well as the historical significance of the places. Highly recommended!!!
Great overview of key sites in Istanbul with limited time in the city. The guide, Hakan, was terrific. He had outstanding knowledge of history, had traveled extensively himself giving him experience and perspective.
The tour is a full 8 hours and requires a fair amount of moderate walking. Admission is included for Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. For anyone with limited time in Istanbul and wanting to get a narrative on the key sites, this is a definite.
Excellent tour and guide.
We took the half day tour which was just right. Our guide was friendly and informative and let us go at our own pace.
Well worth the money.
And yes, we did buy a carpet....
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, organized and stimulated discussions. It was joy to listen to him.
We had a very good guide and enjoyed both tour and lunch.
I really enjoyed this tour. The guide met us at the predetermined point which was easy to locate. We saw all the sights listed on the itinerary and were given lots of information to try and retain. Current events were discussed freely. I wish we would have had some time to spend shopping in the Grand Bazaar a suggestion would be to include a 15-30min stop here. The cruise was relaxing after a long day of walking. All in all a fantastic one day tour of central Istanbul.
Viator Istanbul One Day Tour August 26th 2015
My wife and booked this tour online and printed out the vouchers for presentation to our Tour Guide.
One of the great aspects of the Viator tour was door to door pickup from the hotel. We stayed at the Marriott Sisli
Our minivan arrived on time and proceeded to the next stop where our guide Hakam boarded. Hakam is a very pleasant young man with a wealth of knowledge of the city of Istanbul, its history and points of interest.
After picking up the other passengers from their hotels we headed to the first to Topkapi Palace where our tickets were purchased and distributed to us.
Hakam always gave us clear instructions and took great care in making sure we were comfortable and informed.
One couple on the tour a mother and daughter from Colombia, were very difficult and at times abusive towards our guide. The mother was disabled and had a wheelchair. The driver and Hakam pushed this woman over rough terrain in the blistering heat. In some areas there were steep stairs. In spite of super human efforts on the part of Hakam, the daughter tried to hog the limelight, threatening Hakam with complaints to the tour operator.
The bottom line was that the daughter really wanted the tour and the mother could not have cared less.
In spite of this Hakam skillfully made it all work and the tour of Topkapi was great.
Next stop was Hagia Sophia which was absolutely fantastic! The feeling of history surrounding us was palpable. Hakam brought the chronology of this site to life with his vivid descriptions.
Hakam timed our sequence of our visit to the Blue mosque perfectly and took us through the visitors entrance with minimal waiting. The mosque and its grounds are simply spectacular only to be topped by the beautiful interior and magnificent tile work.
A very nice lunch was included at a restaurant near Hagia Sophia.
The next stop was the Basilica Cistern where part of the James Bond film From Russia with Love was made. A
Wonderful tour. Our tour guide was ilker ulus. He is very personable and is English was very easy to understand. His knowledge of the the sights and local culture is excellent. It provided us with an in depth knowledge of istanbul that we could not have gotten on our own. I would highly recommend this tour and ilker as your tour guide while traveling in istanbul.
Very knowledgable tour guide Would recommend to everyone
