Doing what: Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples
Pompeii was so interesting. In the US we sometimes fool ourselves that a few hundred years of history is 'ancient', but this was really a historic place. Our guide, Andreas, was very knowledgeable and gave us beau coup information and a few laughs as well. Vesuvio was magnificent. Wished I'd dressed a little warmer for the hike to the top, but I still enjoyed it and can say I CLIMBED VESUVIO!! It was spectacular. The scenery all the way up the mountain is unbelievable. Sweeping views of the entire city of Naples, and the sea. Loved it.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
A long day's trip from Rome but worth it. We experienced the bus ride halfway up Vesuvius and hiked the trail to the top. Marvelous views of Naples and the Bay. Excellent lunch included and then on to Pompeii. Amazing to see how truly large and advanced the city was for its time; really glad I went on this tour.

Doing what: Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
We did not enjoy this trip at All! The bus trip was annoying. Everytime our tour director said anything at all it was then repeated in 5 languages. Our stop in Naples consisted of stopping for 5 min to take pictues then driving around the city in the bus for another 5 min. Our guide in Pompeii was good, but we did not have head sets, and as a result lost a lot of information because we could not hear him. Our group was still under the 20 people, but it was not personlized at all. I would not recommend this trip. For the amount of money it was, I would recommend taking the train yourself.

Doing what: Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Basically, it was a really disappointing experience. It is a true statement that the tour is in English, but everything was repeated in English, Spanish, French, and Russian. The bus was cramped and crowded and made stops at a few a tourist traps on the way. Pompeii is beautiful but we rushed through it to have a truly horrible lunch. This was a complete waste of money and the worst way to see Pompeii I can imagine. I'm not sure why they're claiming this tour goes to Naples, the bus just went through the city and did not stop.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Excellent!. Prompt pick up at Piazza dei Popolo with friendly and very helpful tour guides. Fantastic views of Naples and Capri as the coach went up Vesuvius. The walk up to the cone/summit was strenuous but not unmanageable taking between 15 (for the fleet footed) and 30 mins (for older tourists). Lunch provided was basic - pizza, but tasty.
Pompeii was far bigger than expected. It gave a wonderful insight into life in a Roman city in ancient times. The guide was very good and kept citing how various devices, like cats eyes and speed bumps were 'invented' in Pompeii. A very poignant moment was seeing the plaster cast of a man crouched in prayer as he awaited his demise from the eruption.
If you enjoy culture and history, Pompeii is definitely a 'must see'.

Doing what: Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
I absolutely loved the trip to Pompeii. There was so much to see and to absorb, and the guide was truly great, he made the whole experience so much more fun and enjoyable. The Naples part of the tour I thought was really not too interesting, especially since we didn't too much except drive through the city, and stop at a coral factory. But it was a wonderful experience just driving through the countryside, and seeing a bit of the country outside of Rome.

Doing what: Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
The tour lunch included at Vesuvio was very generous and well worth what we paid for and the guide to our pompeii tour was very thorough and informative.Naples was a bit disappointing as I expected a lot more than just passing through the city on the bus and a quick photo session along the coastline.

Trip was fantastic. Pompeii was very interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Vesuvius provides great views for photos both of the volcano and the views of the city. Make sure you take lots of water with you if the weather is hot.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
This was a very good tour with qualifications. Sarah, the tour organizer on the bus, was charming, funny, and very knowledgeable about the history of the area so it was delightful to get an education from her as we were traveling on the bus. Unfortunately, we were split into two groups when we arrived at Pompeii and my group had Gennaro as a tour guide, who was really awful. He had no leadership skills, did not speak into his microphone, so I couldn't hear much of what he was saying, and in any case he did not impart much useful information about what we were seeing. I left Pompeii with many unanswered quesetions and could have learned much more about this fascinating ancient city with a skilled guide who communicated more effectively. Given that, however, the city itself was fascinating and the hike up to the top of Mt. Vesuvius after lunch was full of stunning views. Lunch in between the two events was mediochre and seemed to be at a tourist restaurant convenient for and popular with many bus tours.

Great tour! This was by far the best day of my vacation. The guide for Pompeii was incredible, and I could never have toured the city by myself.

Doing what: Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Pompeii is a beautiful city and the tour of the ruins depicting the lifestyle of ancient times and the affects of Mount Vesuveus eruption was incredible. Our tour guide was very knowledgable. The Bay in Naples was also beautiful, but was cloudy on our day so we couldn't see Isle of Capri, We were very quick through the city and we were not even able to touch the water, which I really wanted to do.

The Pompeii portion of the tour was great! The ruins were in spectacular condition and our tour guide Frank was hilarious. However, the lunch was not great and I really wish we had more time to see Naples (it was really just one brief picture stop and 20 mins driving in and out of the city). Also, really wasn't sure why we made a stop to buy expensive seashell jewelry along the way to Pompeii...

Doing what: Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Naples was not what I expected. It was dirty and the trash cans were overflowing everywhere. Pompeii was by far my favorite part of the tour. I was amazed to see how large the city was and how much is available to walk during the tour. We added lunch as part of our tour and this was an excellent meal. The local red wine was amazing.

Doing what: Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples
[Let me first say that the local tour company is terrible. We had three tours with them and they were the worst in all of Italy. Avoid if at all possible!] Pompeii was very interesting and sooo big. I was shocked at the size of the ruined city. We didn't get anywhere near enough time to explore it! ...And as far as Mt Vesuvius goes. There wasn't a tour at all. Our tour guide just picked us up and drop us off and said: "you have 1 hr to climb up and come back before we leave." The view was amazing but neither of these places need a booking. Just go there yourself and it'll be far cheaper and more enjoyable.
