Highly recommend it.

This was a trip of a lifetime. Our guide had a way of presenting historical, archeological and social information in a wonderful weave so that we could understand the times and places visited. She answered any questions we posed. The traditional Turkish meal served at noon between sites was excellent. We are still there in our minds.

Superb guide, fascinating site. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to enter a small mosque and discuss its traditions. The guide's historical knowledge and sensitivity made for a very special tour.

If you are cruising, there is not a great way to get from the Izmir port to Ephesus. Cruise ships offer the same excursion, however, it is much more expensive - and instead of being in a small group, it is a very large group. Our tour with Viator only had about 15 people in it - the guide was great! Ephesus is a MUST-SEE in this area. The site is vast and really amazing. It is well worth the money!

Mahmet was an excellent guide. Great historic background talk on Izmirs' past. A very cold day in Turkey, but he and the driver kept us comfortable and entertained throughout the tour. Be prepared for typical bantering by the leather salesmen during your walk through the city market.

Great day trip! Very knowledgeable guide. But beware of the very expensive carpets!

Tour guide was well organized, very polite, and left ample time for individuals to explore.

We did Ephesus in conjunction with visits to both Olympia and Athens, and this was - by far - the most impressive site. Viator did a fantastic job selecting our guide; we had Ms. Guler Aslan, whose knowledge of the sites and fantastic commentary really brought everything to life! A Must-See.

Doing what: Izmir Shore Excursion: Day Trip to Ephesus and House of Virgin Mary

Fabulous tour - worth every penny! Guide was amazing. Excellent English and she gave lots of background on the way to the site. Great bus, very comfortable. We also fit in a trip to the Basilica of St. John and a mosque. Lunch was delicious and the carpet coop very interesting. Ephesus is stunning!

Excellent trip. Tour person very knowlegable and very people oriented person, who keep with the group pace and inform us with a lot of information. I will recommend this trip again.

Actually, we finally went to Ephesus... beware, as Izmir is not the Turkish name for Ephesus (that's what I tought, from the documentation of our cruiseship..., and I met others who tought the same). Ephesus is really great, you must see it. As for Izmir, it looks nice, but we did not see it a lot..

EXCELLENT TOUR GUIDE. WELL WORTH THE COST OF THIS TOUR. NOT RUSHED AND VERY INFORMATIVE OF THE AREAS.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better Review by Elie S, Canada, November 2012
Doing what: Izmir Shore Excursion: Izmir Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

it was not worth the money.

This was a really great half day tour with Mehmet who looked after us extremely well. He is a very personable character with a friendly but professional style - loads of knowledge, history and cultural background. By lunchtime we felt that we had a good flavour of Izmir as a City and how it fits into its historic background. Mehmet made the the whole visit both interesting and lighthearted - we were lucky to be the only visitors on this particular tour so we had undivided attention ! Great stuff.

Our guide was outstanding and the tour was the best . Loved the area and the people .
