the trip was really fun and the guide was good-I just thought it was very expensive for what it was.

My biggest complaint is that we were told that the Salmon Bake was a "dinner buffet" so we made sure to eat lunch prior to the excursion. However, the very first stop was the salmon bake which we didn't really get to enjoy as much as we would have had we come with empty stomachs. The salmon isn't seasoned but they add a sugar glaze to it that can overwhelm the fish if too much is used.

Mendenhall Glacier was breathtaking and well worth the trip. The whales were really cool but after the first hour, it got pretty monotomous.

Excellent tour! Found some gold! Salmon bake was superb. Lots to eat and a good variety!

This excursion was not bad, but if I was planning the trip over again, I would choose to do something else. The whale-watching was ok, but not a lot better than I saw from the cruise ship. The "naturalist" on board was a kid working a summer job; not a professional naturalist by any stretch of the imagination. Mendanhall glacier was spectacular; I wish we'd had more time to spend there. The tour drops you off and gives you less than an hour to walk around and visit the Visitors' Center. The biggest problem with this trip is that our bus left the glacier early and left us behind! The tour company in Juneau had 3 buses of cruise passengers on this tour at the same time. At the glacier all the buses dump everyone off and tell them when to return. We were back at the pickup point on time, and saw our bus pull away as we walked up. The second bus driver hardly paid any attention to us as we explained what happened and left without letting us on or helping us. The third bus we just got on and explained what had happened once on board. We guess someone else boarded the our bus, the driver counted bodies, assumed everyone was there, and left early. This was especially frustrating since I had asked if we could arrange our own return to port in order to spend more time at the glacier and been told no because it was a legal liability. However, they obviously do not keep close track of their customers to ensure they are on the right bus and make it back to port.

Based on the price paid for this tour, I feel it was not really worth it. Those in charge of the tour seemed disorganized, telling us we needed to be back to the original point of contact by 3pm for the gold panning part of the tour and then changed their mind after we got there to 3:30. So we basically wasted 30 minutes of our time in Juneau standing and waiting. Then when we got on the shuttle for the gold panning part, the driver thought he was to take us to the salmon bake part afterward, but 4 of us had already been there. Not sure where the communication break-down occurred. While the food was good and the gold panning were fun, I think it was priced about $30 too high.

We were very disappointed in the whale watching portion of the trip. The captain did not stay on the whales long enough. Also, do not like the jet boats as well as the boat style that we were on previously where you could all get to the top outside deck.

The rain isn't what got us. What got us was the fact that the cabin was NOT heated, as we were told, and there were10 of us crowded into a very small boat. We did not get lunch, as we were told; just snacks and beverages. It was very disappointing. Period. We did see whales, though, and Stellar sea lions and other critters. But we were drenched and very cold and miserable.

Not up to my expectations very few whales seen(2or 3) and not enough time at Glacier, Dropped off bus and only had one hour at glacier and had to be back on the bus.

There were only two "sightings" that were so far away you had to be an expert to know they were actually whales.

The bus ride to the "boat" was O.K.

The "boat" ride was very rough and some passengers sounded like they were hurting.

The "boat" was in very bad condition and you could smell the diesel gas like it was just poured on you.

The glacier tour was a bit "poor" to put it mildly.

I have been on quite a few tours (London, Paris etc.) arranged by Viator and this is the worst I have experienced.
