Great trip. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and professional. We think it is unfair that a few complained and they no longer make a stop for lunch but return to the ship for lunch. Since there were 2 buses on this tour, one should stop for lunch and one could return to the ship. Because Noni was born on the island, she was able to share history of the areas that some of the newer tour guides aren't aware of. We would do the tour again and ask for Noni if she was allowed to make the lunch stop.

This tour was wonderful! Kelly was our guide and she was very informative and friendly. The river is beautiful and the equipment was great (I am now hooked on the rudder kayak that is powered by the foot pedals). The hike was fun, even with the mud. Note that this is a moderately strenuous hike, but we did some seniors out there on the trail! Great waterfall to have lunch at and what an excellent lunch. Yummy organic sandwiches. Great company - I would definitely do it again and recommend it to others!

The Wailua river kayak and hike adventure was great. Our tour guide Lars was so much fun and took good care of us. He was great. The kayaking was fun. Definitely wear water shoes to cross the creeks in several areas. The waterfall was beautiful and we had a nice picnic lunch there before heading bac

Aunti Alicea was our tour guide and did an outstanding job. Very glad we let her do the driving to Waimea Canyon. Beautiful views there and on Wailau River. Beautiful lunch site also.

This tour was great. The guides and the music made the day. So much fun on the boat to the Grotto and the dancers were lovely. Not quite as mammoth as the Rockies but exquisite landscapes and water. Highly recommend this tour. Tour guide very knowledgeable.

Tour was good, but guide didn't seem as enthusiastic about the tour as other guides on other tours we took during our trip.

The only reason I gave this one star isbecause the bus driver saved it. Lisa was beyond TERRIFIC and I wish I knew her outside of work! She was fun, hysterically funny and had a wealth of knowledge not found in any books. But the tour was AWFUL. 2 HRS AND 15 MINS DRIVING AROUND PICKING PEOPLE UP

Definitely recommend this tour for nature lovers who are seeking fun, calorie-burning activities. Be prepared to kayak for a little over an hour each way down Wailua River as your tour guide gives you the rundown of the history of the river, as well as the surrounding native (or non-native) species of birds and plants. After we pulled our kayaks up to our destination, we sludged through 1.5 miles of muddy jungle landscape to get to a secluded waterfall, where our tour guide provided us with lunch: a sandwich, cookie, drinks, pineapple, and yam chips. We picnicked right by the waterfall and and were given plenty of time for picture opportunities and a chance to do a little swimming to cool down. Tip: Afternoon trips are best if you want to avoid the crowds and bring plenty of sunblock as you are completely exposed while you are paddling through the river.

A very fun way to spend half a day outside on and in the water. Our guide, Kelly, was great – very knowledgable and friendly. Its possible to find the secluded waterfall we hiked to on your own, but not recommended unless you are really good navigating faint jungle paths and the river. We ran into several lost couples and our guide helped them out. Food was also great. Definitely do this trip if you like kayaking.

The tour guide was a very likeable character, gave some interesting info about the island, and also some personal stories about growing up in Kauai. The tour included four stops at lookouts, one for a souvenier/comfort stop, a lunch stop and then ended with the short river trip down to the Fern Grotto. The Fern Grotto had singers and dancers to entertain you, as well they were on board the boat coming back.
The tour bus is one of the big ones, on my tour it had 33 passengers. Note, that if you are picked up from one of the hotels on the north of the island (Princeville/Hanalei) it takes about 2 hours before the tour proper actually starts due to the many hotel pickups along the way (but also interesting in itself). We had another bus driver take us back after the cruise so as to have a quicker trip home.
Extra costs not included in the tour is lunch and tipping for the bus driver(s) and the on the boat entertainment.

This tour allowed it participants to see the various sides of Kauai, view the breath-taking scenery and travel down the Wailua River. I would recommend this tour.
