Long the closely kept secret of lucky backpackers in search of an affordable escape, the 95 square miles of Koh Samui have been evolving into a playground of the rich since the early 1990s. If you find yourself among their number (lucky you), then by all means relax and add this island paradise to your list of future getaways. The budget-minded among you, on the other hand, would do well to hurry on down to the southern end of the Gulf of Thailand and get while the getting’s good.
