Guide/Driver was excellent. Very interesting and good value. Did exactly what it said on the tin.
Even though we had rain fall the entire day, the food and the tour were worth seeing and the time with others from other countries around the world was priceless. Be prepared for a seven hour day by the time they pick you up from the hotel to the time you get back.
One of the best excursions. Great value for money. Very romantic for couples. 9/10.
A day trip to Kuala Selangor was made most enjoyable all, due once again to the tour guide, this time it was Gobi who kept my wife and I and a second couple enterained. A stopover at an Indian temple and on to Bukit Melewati to visit the historic lighthouse and spend an enjoyable 45 minutes being entertained by the Silver Leaf monkey's that reside there, very enjoyable. Unfortunately, and to the disappointment of our tour guide heavy rain prevented us from enjoying the Fire Flies but Gobi made up for this with an informative commentary throughout, thank you Gobi for an enjoyable day out.

The monkeys were hands-down the highlight of this tour. The food was good. As for the fireflies, make sure you have your special someone with you as it's quite romantic to witness.
Loved the silver leaf monkeys and the fireflies were romantic :)
Was a great trip and the guide was brilliant, knowledgable and funny
It was great and up to my expectations.
Great trip especially the Fireflies experience which was outstanding.
This is a really good tour. There is a two hour bus journey from KL to Kuala Selangor, but once you get there, there is a lot to see, not just the fireflies. Kuala Selangor is a nice place, the Butik Melawati has a great view of the Straits of Malacca and the lookout has a great view. The river is lovely. You will have dinner at the riverside then go to the Fireflies Resort, which is marvellous. It is so peaceful and really enjoyble - the silence is lovely. Then you can rest while the bus brings you back to KL. It's a great trip.
vety nice amazing
Excellent guide was a star very knowledgeable the extra stops on way via monkeys and chocolate factory was a bonus. The fireflies were just amazing overall a truly exceptional experience we will do this again for sure
Nice seafood dinner and boat ride. And loved feeding the monkeys too. Lots of fun.
Excellent trip- the food was lovely - great experience for the children- Guide was very knowledgeable
Nice place to dine and good seafood. Fireflies are magical.
There was a group of 14 with people from Australia and the Middle East - all got on well. The guide was informative, the dinner very good and the short boat ride an experience to remember. The organisation was first class, even considering KL's traffic
This tour highlighted our vacation. The boat right between masses of fire flies was like magic. The Chinese dinner was superb. Watching monkeys in the wild was very exciting. Every thing was just PERFECT
Fireflies boat ride was OK.
Food was great.
This tour was amazing!
Worth taking if adding on the eagle tour (at reasonable cost) when you arrive at the destination, otherwise a bit too long a ride just to see some fireflies for 30 min. A good way to get out of the city and see the countryside. Van needs to be upgraded though as not very comfortable sitting in the back as roads are very bumpy, and the ride is quite long going due to tour van being stuck in the city due to its timing of leaving when peak traffic hour.
The monkeys were the highlight for us. We bought food and they climbed on our shoulders. Many great pictures and they are very gentle. The seafood dinner was good, but not great. The fireflies were a diappointment. I am not sure if it was the moon cycle or if it was because it was raining lightly, but the fireflies were not out in force. Kinda like seeing Christmas trees lite up on shore. We had a friend do this same tour a few days later and they said that it was fantastic. So guess our timing was off.
We really enjoyed this trip. Feeding the monkeys on the way was a great surprise as we didn't know we would be doing this.
The food was excellent at the restaurant. I could not fault it at all. It was a shame that we didn't get to see swams of fireflies but we did enjoy the twinkling glow of the ones we did. I did think this part of the trip was a little on the short side considering this was the main reason for the trip. Overall we had a lovely time and I am sure next time we travel and are in need of a tour we will be looking for one of your tours.
A long drive but well worth it to see something so unique.
The meal although was neutral in taste,
Loved feeding the monkeys.
Monkeys were the main highlight of this day. Fireflies were not as exciting as they sound
Our tour driver was nice, and we shared a coach with another couple. It was raining cats and dogs on the way, so unlike other reviewers have commented, we couldn't unfortunately make any unplanned stops. We were hoping for a stop at the Batu caves, but the driver took an entirely different route. Took roughly two hours to get there.
You get a good view of the Malaysian country side on the way there. Endless swaths of palm plantations! Almost scary. You also get to see some typical country side houses and buildings.
The Kota Melawati stop was quite amusing. Hordes of monkeys jumping onto tourists and generally goofing around. There are vendors selling bundles of beans for 1 RM that you can feed to the monkeys. We spent about an hour there, and had good laughs.
The seafood stop at the fishing village is underwhelming. The river was muddy, and the village was a little filthy. The restaurant itself is a large shack like barn, and the food is mediocre. Also, they serve you one platter that you share with others in your group. Nothing like the romanticised description here on Viator.
Now, the highlight of the trip was of course the fireflies of Kuala Selangor. Thousands of fireflies flashing in beautiful synchrony across long stretches of mangroves. It was like a long row of Christmas trees. The little boat took us along the mangroves and even stopped for a bit underneath the illuminated trees. We spent a good 30 mins on the river soaking it all in.
Overall, the fireflies are an amazing sight. The monkeys at Kota Melawati are fun, but the dinner at the fishing village is very underwhelming.
