Celsus Library in Ephesus, Turkey, part of our tour!
The four of us at the ancient Ephesus Library.
They keep unearthing more, learning more and rebuilding more. Delightful. WEAR GOOD SHOES! The streets are paved with marble slabs in a pretty helter-skelter way. Guy with a walker was having a little trouble and the women with high heels…not a good idea!
Fresh fruit, tea, lovely food and lovely people everywhere throughout this historic Greek enclave (plus lots of souvenirs at good prices).
WOW!!! The stunning view from St. John's Cathedral. Well worth the walk up to see it all.
Here is a photo of St. John's Tomb...
This is our tour guide showing us the baptism fountain at St. John's Cathedral. Well at least that is what they believe it was used for...sounds logical.
Yes, there were brothels back in the ancient days...and this is the directions to the house of ill repute. Make sure your tour guide shares the story...
Community toilets in Ephesus for men (yes, men) only. Women's toilets haven't been found yet and not even sure if there are any...so the question is...where did women do there business? Hummmm...
Write a prayer and leave it on the prayer wall for it to be answered. Bring your own paper and pen to write your prayers.
Take your time and enjoy the blessed surrounds of this holy place.
Make sure you bring an empty water bottle (or two) to bring back some blessed Holy Water from Mary's house.
The guide gave me some time to photograph these baby storks which were all over town in huge nests in spring. Fascinating as we dont have these birds in my country.
Watching the women work on the rugs was interesting.
