Loved this tour. We had only 12 people, this tours from the ship had 40. Ruins at Ephesus are amazing. In better condition than Roman ruins anywhere in Italy. Guide was on time, knowledgeable and fun.
The guide was couteous, punctual and knowlegable, had a great lunch and would recommend it, except for
the salesmen at the carpet demonstration pushing for a sale when clearly we were not interested in puchasing.
Couldn't have been better. Alex was a super tour guide and treated us with kindness and courtesy.
Turkey was a very pleasant surprise. Beautiful scenery and very clean. We stopped to eat at a local place where Alex and his wife enjoy the food...delicious. He asked if wanted to go to the Bulbul Mountain Looms, a local school for making carpets including a silk farm. Quite interesting and I was lucky enough to purchase a beautiful carpet. Carpet making is one of Turkey's top industries. Alex asked if we were interested in seeing these made and later asked if we were interested in prices. I would like to clarify that this was not pushed on us at all (at least they made it seem that way). Ephesus has marble pathways, is quite interesting, but not easy for people with walking challenges. Alex was very considerate in keeping our slow pace. It is sad to see the many feral cats and homeless dogs everywhere.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable. This is a fantastic place to see.
Very knowledgeable tour guide, well explained, not rushed .Had a tasty meal in an outdoor garden. Only draw back was a heavy sales pitch by the Turkish rug salesman. Otherwise, an enjoyable experience.
Great destination, excellent guide. The day was marred by a couple of heavy thunder storms, but all in all a great day!
The guide was pathetic. It seemed that he did not want to be our guide. He took us to the required spots, and gave us perfunctory information. I was completely disappointed with the House of Virgin Mary. He could have told us about the water fountain and the wishing wall. We had no tools to take a few minutes to "get ahead" of the larger crowds. What should have been "memorable" for us was not.
Inan was an excellent tour guide. Because we were in a small group and we arrived before the buses we avoided long lines at the House of the Virgin Mary. The ruins in Ephesus are remarkable and more impressive to see than those in Athens so you should not miss them. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history. He was also able to take us to good shopping spots with the little bit of time we had left.
Great! Tour guide was friendly, courteous and well informed. Sites visited were fascinating.
I had visited Ephesus previously with a tour guide who was most informative so I had an expectation of the what the tour should entail. Two others in our party had not been to Ephesus. At the beginning of the tour our guide immediately started on the hard sell of visiting a carpet and a leather factory. We were very polite and said it really did not interest us we just wanted to see the historical sites. From that point on he could not really be bothered with us. We got very little information about the virgin Mary's house, and we were raced through Ephesus in record once again with very little explanation, a very disappointing experience. It was very obvious that other tour guides were giving their clients very detailed descriptions of specific parts of the ruins. Viator organization was professional but this tour guide sadly let you down very badly. We did 3 other private tours with viator on this trip none of which could be faulted.
We were really looking forward to this trip however we feel very badly let down.
Started smoothly and we were met at the ship by our tour guide. We then hung about for half an hour waiting on two people to turn up We were led to our mini bus which looked very run down. We picked up two girls and then went to offices and sat for another twenty minutes waiting for other passengers. We then visited a bus station to drop off the two girls suitcases and then were told we would visit the house of the virgin Mary in the morning as we were going to the airport to pick up a further two people before lunch. We had lunch and then were told we would not be going to the airport as the plane was delayed and the two passengers would catch up with us at Ephesus!!! Apparently we then had time to spare and went to a Leather outlet and watched a fashion show. we then went to Ephesus and the two passengers from the flight caught up with us there. In all fairness the actual trip to Ephesus was interesting and the guide knew his history. The whole trip for us was fraught with worry as we had to be back at the ship for sailing and was certainly not the stress free experience you advertise.
We did get back on time however had to go via the bus station to drop off the two girls This trip was with another driver on an immaculate mini bus.
Turned out to be a nightmare experience
Murat (our guide) was there to greet us immediately when we disembarked the ship. He was extremely knowledgable and full of information. This was a great tour and a great time had by all. I strongly recommend the small group tour as this was only my family and one other couple, which was great.
Our tour was outstanding! Our guide was on time when we arrived in port and very informative. His English was excellent and his knowledge of the area was great.
Everything was as promised. Met promptly, mini-bus clean. Entire itinerary was covered, with good info from Turkish guide. Only thing to change was weather! Too darned hot!
The tour guide was excellent and knowledgable. Loved House of Virgin Mary and Ephesus ruins.
Didn't really appreciate getting forced into carpet sales pitch, but I understand they do that on almost every tour of Ephesus. Which is too bad, since i had no interest in buying, although the demonstration of silk and weaving was interesting.
