Both tour guides gave interesting commentary both on the bus and on location, the provided buffet lunch was excellent and the tour coverage was good. It was also good value

It was generally good but 2 hours wasted at lunch was way too long and cut out the heart of the day.

Doing what: Kyoto Small-Group Bike Tour

The small group was great, personalised by guide Hiro. Great to travel around Kyoto by bike and have everything explained in detail.

The tour is actually split in two. All sites were just woinderful. The afternoon guide, Mitch, one of the best guides ever. Nice, corteous, very knowledgeable, with one of best English spoken in all Japan. A must do!

This was a great tour with a nice size of group not too large or small. The tour lady speaks fluently english and has a great knowledge of Japan history. She does not miss a thing and kept us moving efficiently the schedules. Lunch was good and well organized with plenty of time enjoy and relax. We enjoyed the full day as expected., Excellent.

Yu-me was a great guide. Lunch was nice. The 1 and 3/4 hour lunch break was a waste of time. Lunch was finished in 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour. This meant that people were sitting in the hotel lobby chairs falling asleep or walking to an overpriced souvenir shop, to fill in our time.

Very well organized! a great and fun way to get to know Kyoto :)

Saw heaps of sights, very good organisation for time!

Excellent tour. Great value and plenty to see. Lunch was also very good. Full day recommended!

Doing what: Kyoto Small-Group Bike Tour

I ended up having a private tour which the guide was happy to tailor for me. It a great way to see many of the sights of Kyoto in a half day.

This tour would be a 5 star if the group size was smaller so you could hear the guide at all times. I suggest reading before the trip on each temple, so that if you aren't able to hear the guide you already know part of the history and you can wander off on your own and meet the tour back at the coach.

The highlights of this tour included the Golden Pavilion and its gardens, and the Sanju-Sangendo Hall and its very impressive1001 wooden statues. The lowlight was lunch. It was poorly organised by the restaurant and the quality of food was poor, especially compared with that arranged for our Nikko National Park Tour from Tokyo a couple of days earlier.

Excellent. Interesting and well-organised. Our guide was top-notch and answered questions easily. Travellers should be aware of the variations due to certain locations closing on certain days and seasons though.

Doing what: Kyoto Small-Group Bike Tour

(English translation below)
We booked this tour because the size of Kyoto is bicyle-friendly. A japanese friend advised us to book a guide however to get used to biking in Japan. Our guide Ayumi had great knowledge about English as well as of the city. She had a proposal for a tour, but as we were the only participants we were able to do changes at will. This way we saw in more than three hours a lot of interesting points and got help in self-defense – bicycle-riding seems to be a kind of martial art in Japan ;-) Anyway it was a very good experience of exploring the city, especially with such a friendly and nice support. Highly recommended.

nice tour. the guide was very kind and the tour is fantastic
