Family-Friendly Fun
While Las Vegas has been perfunctorily touting itself as family-friendly for several years, its “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” marketing campaign and TV commercials featuring scantily clad ladies don’t do much to reassure parents that Vegas is, in fact, okay for their offspring. The Strip is full of restaurants and other locales where people under 18 are simply not allowed, but there are attractions and shows suitable for and, even aimed at, your kids. Spend your evening with a Broadway and Disney classic, The Lion King, at Mandalay Bay or at Matsuri, an acrobatic musical at the Imperial Palace. Or wander to the MGM Grand for CSI: The Experience, an interactive attraction where you’ll solve a “crime,” and MGM’s famous Lion Habitat, where descendants of MGM Studio’s lion (seen roaring at the beginning of MGM movies) hang out in a replica African environment; CSI is open until 10pm and the Lion Habitat closes at 7pm.

I highly recommend the tour if all tour guides were as good as Carlo. He was so familiar with the canyon, having hiked with his family for years. Our trip to Red Rock Canyon was the highlight of the week! Our tour guide had in depth knowledge about the area, he and his family hike and climb there in their free time, so he has a deep and abiding love for this spectacular terrain. His descriptions of the Canyon in all seasons, particularly the starry nights, made me long to know the desert, who knew! We made just the right number of stops, and lunch at the ranch was great, long enough for relaxing. I saw a roadrunner, beep beep! The mountains are gorgeous! Our driver was cordial and efficient, the box lunch was good. I had a great time! Continue Reading »
