Brilliant helicopter tour, would strongly recommend. However would of liked more time when we landed in the canyon for our champagne picnic, felt a bit rushed.
I traveled with my husband and grown up daughter, this was our first visit to USA. Things that impressed us: Viator left a message on our hotel phone telling us the pick up time and location. The driver turned up exactly on time. The information given at the office where we exchanged our vouchers for tickets was clear and helpful. The actual coach we went on to Hoover Dam was comfortable and the driver Anthony very knowledgeable. The Grand Canyon was breathtaking and there was plenty of time to enjoy all the different aspects. The lunch provided was jolly tasty.
Things that did not impress us: We were told we would be stopping very close to the Dam but never did. The comfort facilities at the first stop were disgusting. The fact we changed our nice coach for an old banger because the road was so bad for about half an hour was annoying, the second vehicle was stuffy and uncomfortable to say the least and we obviously had to make two journeys in it. The driver stressed that none of us should be late back to the coach because the plan was for us all to be back at our hotels by about 6pm. He made it clear that each of us was responsible for our timekeeping and it would be unfair to be late to mess up other travellers dinner/show plans - fair enough but come 6pm we were still in traffic dropping people off at different locations and we didn't get back out our hotel until 7.20pm. Finally if I want to tip I will, I don't need to be told in half a dozen different ways that a gratuity is expected, and because of this I only tipped half as much as I would have had I not been bullied into doing so.
Excellent day trip! Well informed bus driver!
We chose this tour as a result of reading reviews and because of the type of helicopter used. We were not disappointed. It lived up to all our expectations and luckily we had great weather for it. We were picked up as scheduled in a ' stretch limo' and taken to the airport. We waited about half an hour before our flight was called. the pilot was friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to have front seats on the way out with superb views of the Hoover Dam. The pilots commentary helped with interpretation of the scenery. The picnic lunch was acceptable in quality and quantity. On the flight back we sat in the rear of the helicopter but the view was still very good. A very smooth flight in both directions. On landing we waited only a few minutes before we were transported back to our pickup point. Just one small point, we happened to be staying at the RV site in LV as we were touring. We had to walk to the pickup point - 10mins away from the campground and of course walk back. All other people were staying in hotels and of course were dropped off at the door of the hotel. Why could we not have been picked up at the entrance to the campground and dropped off there on our return. It was particularly annoying to see our transport driving past the campground after dropping us off leaving us to walk back - I assume after all that we all paid the same price! On the whole though a memorable experience and one which I would recommend.
We were well taken care of for the whole trip to the West Canyon. They set our expectations and most everything was as described. Our bus driver was very informative and so were the locals at the Canyon. Clean facilities, friendly guides, and really a sight to see. Would recommend the tour to everyone.
If you have never seen the Grand Canyon before this is a good tour to take. The trip from Las Vegas is about 2 hours and that includes the various hotel stops. Very nice bus ride with knowledgable drivers. The Canyon is magnificent to see. I do prefer the south rim because it is surrounded by the national parks so it has more greenery. There is lots of dust and walking on the West rim. If you do the Skywalk be advised you can not take your own personal camera onto the skywalk. They have there own photographers and the pics are 30.00 for 1 photo. It comes in a nice frame but the price is very steep. The food is fair but you can bring your own. Overall everyone is very nice and you can get awesome pics of the Canyon.
Was picked up on time and tour went fine until the end. We didn't do the Hoover Dam in the beginning and were going to do it at after doing the Grand Canyon. Instead two women got to the bus an hour late from the time we were all told to meet back at the bus. So, we sped to the Hoover Dam and didn't go to the spot we were suppose to, and got a quick glimpse from the top instead. Then the driver told a lot of us that he couldn't take us back to our hotels, so we had to get dropped off at another hotel and get on a different bus. That driver wasn't letting us off at the hotel we were left off at (The Bellagio), we were staying next to it at the Cosmopolitan. Instead he let them off on a side street somewhere. Glad we stayed on bus for next stop which was suppose to be Planet Hollywood which was directly across from our hotel, instead he let them all off in from of the Cosmopolitan so we lucked out. But the Planet Hollywood people had to walk.
The tour was good, the helicopter pilot was very informative and we saw amazing views. The stay at the ranch was nice, however, the details of the trip were a bit disorganized. I had difficulty confirming a pickup time from the helicopter company and had difficulty getting a response from Viator on why the helicopter company didnt have record of my prepaid reservation. I never did receive responses to my several emails, however, eventually found a phone number to call, and was able to get it confirmed. Upon checking in, the people ahead of clearly had their reservation correct as they confirmed meals included etc. When we checked in they made it sound like they were doing us a favor to include meals, however, it was clearly included in the reservation I made...Upon landing at the ranch, evidently there was confusion on whether we were supposed to be staying overnight. According to the ground crew and the pilot, we were supposed to heading back to Vegas the same day, however, I had to prove to them that we were booked to stay overnight...after phone calls and waiting they determined we were supposed to stay overnight. Of course, I am guessing that since they expected us to leave without staying overnight, they didnt plan for us to leave the next morning and therefore couldnt fit us on the morning helicopter return flight, we end up having to wait an additional 3 or 4 hours at the ranch, with little or nothing to do until they had available space on a trip back. The trip was amazing and worth the dollars spent, just disappointed in the organization.
Beautiful, but the tour company needs to organize a little better. A bus of 150 should not have to wait 2 hrs for two people who decide to not acknowelegde the agreed time to meet back.
Once we arrived at the Canyon, it was awesome!! However, the trip there was disorganized. Lots of confusion about which bus to take. Getting mixed messages from drivers. Also, really no need for the stops along the way-were told that the prices would be better but very expensive. Would have like more time at Hoover Dam. Bus driver provided a lot of interesting info. and he was funny.
This was a nice tour to the Canyon and Thomas was entertaining and funny. The skywalk is not worth the money they ask (approx. $113.00 for 2) and then they expect another $30 for a photo that should be included in the price. We spent so much time in the line-up for the skywalk that our time at the other look-off site was very limited and we did not get to the ranch at all. After spending the day on this tour and ready to go home, it was very frustrating to have to wait almost 30 min for late arrivals to the bus! (not tour operators fault). All in all, we are glad that we did it.
We were the last bus to leave out of the lot in the morning and as such, instead of going to the Hoover Dam first and then the Canyon, we did it the other way round.
The Canyon itself is very impressive and the road trip there was good. You are basically given around 4 hours at the Canyon which is plenty if just doing the Skywalk but, if you are doing the boat and helicopter too, you may have to move through it quickly.
The main reason that I gave this such a low rating is because though the ad clearly states that you will have a '15 minute stop from the pedestrian walkway at the Hoover Dam', we did not get this.
Our bus driver just drove through the Hoover Dam park and all you could get was a fleeting shot of the bridge and dam. No explanation was given as to why.
The helicopter trip to the ranch was an amazing experience! The stay at Grand Canyon West Ranch - NOT SO MUCH! It was advertised as a "real working ranch," but in reality was a DUDE ranch or as we dubbed it, "a dud ranch." Not much to do there and very hokey. And seriously, helmuts to ride a horse?!! I grew up riding horses and have never worn a helmut in my life! Plus, my husband and I both got food poisoning while were were there! The one bright spot was the campfire sing-a-long with Cowboy Dave. He rocked it!

Doing what: Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam Day Trip from Las Vegas with Optional Skywalk
What can I say but WOW! It was truly the best part of the entire Vegas experience. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and we are from NJ. Both her and I truly enjoyed it from start to finish. The bus picked us up on time, all the staff from the phone to the in person people were friendly, organized, and thorough. The bus driver was an excellent tour guide with a great sense of humor (Dwayne); the food was excellent, and they even sang Happy Birthday to my girl who's a little shy. Worth every penny!
We didn't get the Skywalk, it really would have been over kill, so we saved there;
We didn't get the Helicopter ride or boat ride, it was Wayyy too expensive and we couldve gotten a helicopter ride for a lot cheaper in town.
These 3 things I wouldn't really get, just get the bus tour it is really worth it. Best Wishes!
