Las Vegas Itineraries
Las Vegas is one of those places that actually is all things to all people. You want gambling 24/7, after-hours clubs and exotic shows? No problem? Looking for fine dining, upscale spas and shopping? Yup, lots of that, too. And, Las Vegas also has tons of activities for families and outdoor enthusiasts. If you're not sure where to begin your Vegas vacay, read on for a few suggestions on how to spend your days and nights in this always enigmatic, always neon city.
Day 1: Strip Time
Hit the Strip. Depending on where you are staying, you can just walk or take the Las Vegas Monorail. Here, the hotels and casinos are not only a place to rest your head and play Black Jack, they are entertainment in themselves with gorgeous arcades, spas, and crazy fountains and attractions.
A few of the most outrageous and breathtaking landmark hotels and casinos to check out include the romantic Venetian for a touch of Venice, the elegant and Tuscan-inspired Bellagio, Luxor (an ode to Egypt with its 30-story pyramid) and the newest upscale sophisticate Wynn Las Vegas.
For those looking to challenge Lady Luck, jump aboard the Strike It Rich Mega Bucks tour that will whirl you to five casinos on the Strip. You'll get a fun and informative sightseeing tour, as well.
Shoppers, you'll be in all your glory as there are plenty of fashionable places to spend your winnings. Top shopping includes the Grand Canal Shoppes, a 500,000-square-foot mall at the Venetian and the Forum Shops at Caesars, upscale shopping with more than 160 boutiques. But for those whom shopping is an obsession, the real must-visit is the Las Vegas Outlet Center stuffed with big savings at more than 130 brand-name retailers.
Now it's time to hit the town and take in an over-the-top spectacular Vegas show. Choices are many, but a few of our current faves include Le Rêve at Wynn Las Vegas, Beatles ode The Fab Four at the Aladdin Hotel, and the always entertaining Blue Man Group at the Venetian Resort Casino.
Day 2: Back to Nature
Although some may prefer to spend their Sin City days holed up in dark casinos, they're definitely missing out on beautiful dessert scenery, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam are tops on the list. The Hoover Dam Deluxe Tour is bound to be a highlight of your trip. You'll get to take in the beauty of Lake Mead, the largest manmade lake in the country, and explore the art-deco, New Deal project and its fascinating history.
Red Rock Canyon, just 20 miles and a world away from the lights and artifice of Vegas, is another must-see. A scenic loop and hiking trails are open to visitors. Kill two birds with one stone and take the Las Vegas City Tour With Red Rock Canyon.
For those seeking a bit more gritty outdoor adventure, the Valley of Fire ATV Tour is the ticket. After a bus tour exploring the gorgeous natural playland that is Valley of Fire State Park, you get to kick up some sand and take control of your own ATV. Navigate through a series of trails, over sand dunes and sand stones, washes and gullies. This is more fun than winning a jackpot!
For the evening activity, why not continue with the outdoor theme and take a magnificent helicopter ride above Las Vegas. The Apollo Night Strip Helicopter Flight begins with a glass of bubbly and then it's up, up and away, above the Strip for a new perspective on the twinkling city.
Day 3: A Touch of Glitz
Vegas is nothing if not glitz and glamour of sinful proportions. Don't even try to fight it, embrace the neon and over-the-topness of it all. First, you should purchase a VISITicket: Las Vegas Power Pass, which will give you the best value for all the attractions in town.
Tops on the only-in-Vegas list include the Liberace Museum, Neon Museum and Fremont Street Experience. And Madame Tussaud's is always a hoot, too.
Have kids in tow? Don't miss Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat, where you can get up close to exotic and endangered animals in a lush setting. New York-New York's Manhattan Express Rollercoaster is sure to be a thrill for kids of all ages. And a stage show at Circus Circus Midway will keep the family mesmerized with its jaw-dropping acrobats, animals and magicians.
If you're with the children, make sure to get a babysitter and hit the town known for its nightlife. Our best bet goes to the Ultimate Nightclub Hopping Package, where you can get your groove on. You get access to all the hottest clubs, no queues and no velvet ropes keeping you waiting. You'll sleep when you get home.
Day 4: The Grand Canyon
After experiencing Sin City head out to see the Grand Canyon. Its dramatic scenery enthralls even the most jaded visitors and leaves all who witness it somehow changed. Head there by helicopter, airplane, hummer or bus. Viator offers a variety of tours and day trips to the Grand Canyon. Visit the Grand Canyon's newest attraction - the Grand Canyon Skywalk, suspended 4,000 feet above the canyon floor, providing visitors with a staggering 720-degree view.
