Launceston Travel Tips
Launceston, affectionately known as "Lonnie" to the locals, is Tasmania's second largest city, however, it maintains a quanit country feel with its outstanding natural setting at the junction of the North Esk, South Esk and Tamar Rivers. Known for its historic buildings, Launceston is also home to Australia's most diverse collection of Victorian, Federation, Edwardian and Art Deco houses.
In Launceston, visitors can spend time outdoors, hiking Cataract Gorge, catch a cricket match, or take in the arts at Queen Victoria Museum. And of course you can't miss the chance to catch those menacing Tasmanian Devils at the Tasmania Zoo conservatory.
