One of Britain's most distinguishable heritage sites is the grand Leeds Castle. Sprawled out over 500 acres of land, a trip to this royal 12th century gem is an essential stop for any visitor who wishes to truly understand Britain's venerable history. Constantly undergoing alterations and upkeep in its 900 year history, its condition is amongst the best condition Europe’s medieval era landmarks. The castle is currently riddled with lovely accumulated décor such as tapestries, ceramics and paintings.

Surrounded by Kent County's gorgeous landscape, the castle grounds contain an aviary, grotto, and golf course. Not to mention that it also makes its facilities open year-round for larger-scale events. And if that isn't enough, visit the castle's hedge maze, which uses over 2,400 yew trees. As a little incentive to complete the tricky maze, the only viable entrance to the grotto is located at its end.

Lovely tour, the castle has a beautiful setting, the town in Canterbury is very nice and Dover was a nice stop, it was foggy the day we went but it was nice to walk on the "rocky beach".

This was an excellent day trip from London! Our guide gave us a running history of London as we made our way out of town and was very knowledgable about every place we visited. We had plenty of time to explore Leeds Castle (the private tour was great!) and the grounds. Lunch in Dover near the port was tasty and we had plenty of time in Canterbury to visit the cathedral, shops, etc. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone wanting to get see a few sites away from the hustle and bustle of London!

Canterbury cathedral was maginificent. Everything was closed by the time we arrived in Greenwich so no value in going there other than to catch the boat back down the river to London. Mark the guide was excellent

Accessibility to Leeds Castle is quite easy by most forms of transport. A train from London Victoria takes only about an hour, while frequent buses out of Victoria Coach station take an hour and a half.

Otherwise, Leeds City is close by if you are looking to shack up somewhere other than London. The city is the biggest in Yorkshire, and has a notably rich nightlife, culture, and architecture.
