A while back Viator’s Ken Frohling drew everyone’s attention to the most up to date book on Stonehenge here’s the link to his page:

http://travelblog.viator.com/kens-book-report-solving-the-mysteries-of-stonehenge/

You can ignore the subsequent editorial heading about Stonehenge being a ‘a cemetery’ that’s the last thing that the Iconic monument represents, and is certainly not what the author of ‘Solving Stonehenge’ suggests. But read the book for yourself because Kens original and perceptive view is confirmed by the American Library who say Solving Stonehenge is ‘the most attractive, readable, sensible, and most comprehensive exploration of Stonehenge available’

If you visit Stonehenge without reading it you may well have wasted a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Oh, one more thing, if you follow the links on the page above the author tell you how to arrange special access to get inside the Stone Circle! Now that is something well worth doing….

Stonehenge is amazing! Everyone must see it at least once in their lifetime. I had a private viewing so i was lucky enough to be able to walk among the stones. If you take a regular tour you stand about 50 meters away from the stones. Early morning visits are awesome and add to the mystery of this wonderful ancient site. You have to check it out when your in London, its only about 1.5 hours drive away.

Stonehenge rocks! Literally. I've always wanted to visit Stonehenge, and see this site that is so ancient and mystical. There were quite a few other visitors to the site, and I can recommend getting the audio guide to listen to as you walk around the stones. The only weird thing is that it looks so strange with the road going past it (why it was built so close, I have no idea). I guess the stones were there first...

I am very satisfied with the Stonehenge tour that included Bath and Lacock. This tour is perfect for anyone who, like me, only had a few days in London but wanted to see a little something extra We left early in the morning, but arrived back in London early enough so that we could keep sightseeing. I would definitely take another trip through Viator.

Reliable pick-up. Tour included everything it said it would. It was amazing to be able to have the private Stonehenge tour and to be able to touch the stones. It made the trip worthwhile. However, the Viator tour description was lacking in that it did not mention that dinner would be part of the trip in Lacock and that you wouldn't get back to London until after 10 PM. This interfered with preset dinner plans in London we wouldn't have planned had we known the full itinerary with the tour group they contracted with in England.
