Doing what: Edinburgh Rail Day Trip from London

This tour was ideal for those who wish to organise their time within a tour framework. The train trip up took us past some fabulous countryside although the trip back was slightly marred by the railways double booking our tickets. The tour bus was an excellent way to get around the 'old' city with step on/step off options to plan the day's activities. The sights of the city of Edinburgh were crowded with excitement with so many attractions and distractions that the time disappeared effortlessly. The Castle atop the massive volcanic outcrop dominated the city. Guides advise allowing about 3 hours to visit the Castle, however, I spent over 3 and a half hours and saw only those parts related to earlier than 1600AD and it was barely enough time. The place is stunning and could easily take all your time from dawn to dusk to see properly. The shops along the steep road leading to the Castle were fascinating, and to add to the excitement and colour, the Fringe Festival was in full swing. I also visited St Giles Cathedral as the High Church of Scotland and a distant part of my ancestry. I would recommend this church to all visitors as an excellent example of church architecture with particular emphasis on the glorious Thistle Chaple. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and appreciate the chance to visit Edinburgh in my short time in the UK.

Doing what: Budget Independent Rail Tour to Paris by Eurostar

Make sure you don't go on a Tuesday--the Louvre is CLOSED! That was a disappointment. The rail trip was fast and comfortable. All in all this is a convenient way to spend a day in Paris.

Doing what: Paris Rail Day Trip from London

The Paris Rail Day Trip was a whirlwind to say the least. It is a VERY long day, and it is extremely hard to see the sites of Paris so quickly. My guide Sammy was really accomodating and I would recommend this trip the person who can't see Paris any other way.

Doing what: Edinburgh Rail Day Trip from London

Definitely do not get to spend enough time in Edinburgh. Plus it is impossible to upgrade your train tickets because the service the actually gets them does not get tickets with a price so the rail service has no idea what to charge you if you want to upgrade. Basically what my wife and I learned is we just need to go to Edinburgh and spend 2-3 days.

Doing what: Paris Rail Day Trip from London

The rail trip was great. I would however not recommend using the guided tour. We opted for the guide for fear of not being able to find our way around. Hindsight proves that we would have been much better off on our own. The tour was so rushed that we never got a chance to get a "feel" for Paris. There was no time figured in for meal times. The description stated we would be given the option for free time, Seine cruise, or guided afternoon tour. Our guide did not give us the chioce. She was adamant that we go exactly where she said, and got very defensive when we suggested otherwise. The "extra time" for lunch that was supposed to be included was a farce. We had a total of 1 1/2 hrs in the Louvre. That was supposed to include lunch, restroom break with a 45 minute line for the ladies, and Louvre tour. We did "see" many sites of Paris but "experienced" nothing. I would consider this one-day tour again. I would go it on my own and would highly suggest it even if it's your first visit.

We were provided Paris Metro passes for lines 1, 2, and 3. However, only lines 4 and 5 were available at Gare du Nord, the rail station in Paris. We incurred additional costs for taxi fares.

Not that great. Never do a day trip to London in then summer time...we spent most of the day stuck in traffic so we brealy had time to see any sights up close...majority of the sights we saw just from the top of London eye. I wish I saved my $$$ and came back to visit some other time for a longer period and a better time of year... Such a waste of money....not to mention the hop-on hop-off bus in London they use (original tours) buses are less frequent than the others (blue line) so not only spend the whole day stuck in traffic but also waiting for the stupid buses....we waited so long for the bus to take us back to the rail station that we almost missed our train back home to Paris...so my husband and I had to book a taxi back to the station...wasting even more money...but we had no choice or else we would have been stranded in London...sigh......

Doing what: Paris Rail Day Trip from London

The Paris Rail Day Trip from London could have been a pleasant experience but I was not. Our contact person arrived later at the train station in London. She was disheveled and unorganized. She did not confirm any of our reservation and did not provide clear instruction on what to do next. It then got worst when we arrived in Paris and met with our tour guide. He was pushy and demanding. He took us for a tour around Paris but we were unable to capture any of the iconic sights. He basically took us to a restaurant and demanded we sit together. We felt like we did not have a choice on where we ate or who we wanted to sit with. We left the city of Paris without experiencing the true feeling of being in Paris. Thumbs down.

Doing what: Paris Rail Day Trip from London

The options offered in the description were nothing like the actual tour. Two in our group wanted to take the option of having the afternoon free and were told that if you didn't stay with the group the entire day, you had to leave the guided tour immediately in the a.m. We were not given the option to skip the river cruise and go to the Louvre. We were told we had to. An hour at the Louvre was not enough, but our guide made sure we had 45 minutes to shop for cheap souvenirs and I estimate we waited a total of 2 hours throughout the day for public buses. Then we were dropped off an hour and a half early for our train. The tour was rushed, our guide was disinterested in all of it, and the description was nothing like the tour. For the money I paid, I could have bought my own rail ticket and a cab to both the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Definitely not worth it.
