Royal Wedding in London
Spring was in the air in London, and romance was in the news with everyone counting down to the Royal Wedding on 29 April, 2011. If you didn't make the 2,000-strong guest list for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials, there are plenty of ways to feel the romance while you’re in London even today.

First off, share a champagne ride on the London Eye in a capsule for two, to size up the royal city of London from the air. You’ll have bird’s-eye views of all the sights that were featured on the day – Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and St. James’s. Then see the sights from the ground by joining the Royal London Walking Tour for some royal history.

Next, make your way to Buckingham Palace, London home of William’s grandparents, the Queen and Prince Philip. The world’s media was gathered there on the night of April 29th when the newly married royal couple waved from the palace balcony following their wedding ceremony.

Prince William lives around the corner in St. James’s at Clarence House, official London residence of Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. To visit Prince William’s childhood home, make your way to Kensington Palace, Diana’s royal home. The current Enchanted Palace exhibition brings the history of Kensington Palace to life, with fashion installations, experimental lighting and art. Now Kate wears Diana’s engagement ring, ensuring the memory of Princess Diana will be with them on the big day.

You might like to drop into St. Paul’s, where William’s parents were married in 1981, or see the Crown Jewels in the Tower. Don't miss Westminster Abbey, where the Royal Wedding took place. William’s grandparents and great-grandparents were married here too, and the abbey is filled with royal touchstones, tombs and memorials.

After touring these historic sights, get a sense of contemporary London by hunting out a wedding outfit at Diana and Kate’s preferred department store, Harvey Nicks. Browse the century-old shops in St. James, where the royal cobblers, milliners and wine merchants are gathered.

Doing what: London Royal Parks Bike Tour including Hyde Park

Had it not been for front row viewing of the royal wedding, this would have been the highlight of our trip. As it was, it will have to settle for second! Seriously, our guide, Matt, was the perfect guide -- just enough history blended with quirky facts and humor. Loved, loved, loved it. The perfect way to see London. If you can ride a bike, you can and should do it. Cheap and wonderful!
