A long day. 6 hours is too long to be left to your own devices. Lucerne is very tourist orientated. Worth the trip to see the amazing Lion sculpture.
Luzern is a gorgeous town and you can easily spend the 6 hours here without getting bored. Take a boat trip, and the tourist train.
If you go on a Sunday the number of shops open is reduced.
The trip was let down by the guide and the apparent change in the itinerary. Bought the trip reading that there would be a short city tour upon arrival. Instead we were dropped at a convenient tourist shop (told it was the only one open that day - not true) and given a route march, there was no guide to the sights.
Pick up point wasn't technically accurate.
Lovely township, we were there on a Sat so there was a large market on, stalls selling everything from local cheeses, fruit and veg, right down to used cow bells, handmade rocking horses and old type writers. We traveled 1st Oct 2011 and there was a lot of fog to start of the day so we didn't see much of the countryside, this tour only goes one way through the country, on the way back to Zurich it's all highways which was a shame, but we still got a sense of the place, and by the arvo the sun had burned through most of the fog and we got some great views of the mountains. The tour guide focuses a lot on Swiss economics whereas I wanted to hear a bit more Swiss history, and he did not speak Spanish so the Spanish tourists who didn't speak English didn't understand him. Worth seeing if you have the time, but maybe better as part of a larger tour - like one of the one's up the mountains, we had a bit too much spare time in the town.
Even though you don't have anything to do on a rainy day in Lucerne, it's still beautiful. Be prepared that this tour is just a mean of transportation to get you to Lucerne and back. Don't expect too much. If you find any cheaper way than this to go to Lucerne from Zurich, please go for it.
After dropping off other passengers to go up mountains we were dropped in Lucerne to spend the day to ourselves. Looked at the tourist stuff then sat and people watched. Could we have caught the train ourselves and done the same thing cheaper? I think, Yes! You live and learn. Lucerne is worth certainly worth visiting but 6 hours? I think, a bit too long!
Lucern is lovely place, with a great monument, like the injured lion. That lion is a great piece of art. We visted the glacier garden, who i would recommand. The bridge is a piece of history and was great walking in it. The tour guide was greate in deed. Forgot his name, but he driveing a small black mini van
Outward trip was very good, but very disappointed on the return trip. Bus started 45 minutes late than schedule time, also not enough room for the people was waiting to return to Zurich. I was forced to take my daughter on my lap and guide-lady didn't show any courteous manner rather very rude.
My husband and I loved Lucerne! It was beautiful and the weather was great, it rained a little but remained clear for the most part. The drive to Lucerne was beautiful as well. Lucerne is truly a gem and a must see for all the visit Switzerland!
Beautiful tour simply because Lucerne is so lovely. We were combined with a Spanish group which was a bit disconcerting. However the guide managed it all.
Our trip was wonderful. Ernest was an excellent guide providing historical information along the way and answering all of our questions. The city of Lucerne is beautiful. The trip could be shortened by 2 hours.
Basically the trip just provide trasportation to and backfrom Zurich to Lucerne. Anyway Lucerne City is a nice and beautiful city.
Prepare to give yourself the tour. You are dropped off by a tour guide and left for 7hrs. Lucerne is beautiful though!
While I really enjoyed my trip to Lucerne, there was no city tour other than going to look at a lion carved in stone. I was the only person left in the city while all the others went to Tiglis. I think it would have been better taking the train there on my own.
