7 day forecast
Permanent ice and snow at the top of the world and a revolving gondola lift to take you to the top of the mountain, chairlifts over deep crevasses and exploring a glacier cave... If any of these sound amazing - and they do - Mount Titlis is the place for you. There are also restaurants and breathtaking views for those of us who prefer to be amazed in comfort while sitting on top of the world at 10,600 ft (3,238m).

Titlis is Central Switzerland's highest mountain and the views are amazing. However, be prepared: it is a bit like a high altitude theme park. The ice cave has music and flashing neon lights and you can pose for a photo with a giant Toblerone. Still, the surrounding peaks like shark fins, the glacier and the sweeping views to pastures, cliffs and waterfalls should make you forget any crass commercialism.

Doing what: Mount Titlis Day Tour from Zurich

What a day.. absolutley FANTASTIC. We had a perfect sunny day, with lots of snow on the mountain peaks... This provided awesome views once arrived and spectacular snow, one of the best "entry fee and ride inclusive" tours I have been on. Tour guide was fantastic, and ensured everyone was safe, accounted for and on time.
Time in the snow was perfect, and we could do what we wanted with free time, which was enough to do all the mountain top attractions and fun park.
Well worth every cent paid.

Meeting point can be a little hard to find, however it is across the road from Tram 4 (and others) stop of "Sihlquai Tram Stop", which is near the Main railway station. This bus terminal is easily idenified by the 2 ticket selling booths and the busses parked in the parking lot.

Practical Info

To get up the mountain you need to catch the Rotair, the world's only revolving cable car which opened in 1992. This leaves from the town of Engelberg which can easily be reached by train from either Lucerne or Zurich. The cableway is closed for maintenance each year for a couple of weeks early in November.
