Dolphin and Whale Watching in Madeira

Madeira’s moderate climate makes it an ideal destination for whale and dolphin watching. Numerous boat trips leave from the island’s shores daily, with costs that range from about 30 to 50 Euros per person.

A three-hour voyage aboard the Santa Maria offers travelers a taste of history—as well as local wine and honey cakes—with a decent chance of spotting marine mammals from the deck. But there are a number of Catamarans and boats with semi-submerged cabins that offer guaranteed sea life views. Some even offer the opportunity to swim with dolphins, too.

All trips are weather dependant and may be cancelled when storms roll in. Most boats leave from the marina in Fuchal and have toilets and bars aboard.
