Excellent tour with a very agreeable and knowledgable guide.

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
Our tour was conducted both in Spanish and English. More information were given in Spanish and we felt we were short changed. But the monastery and the Valley of the Fallen is well worth the visit. It was run by the big local operation Julia Travel. Everything is on time and without problem.

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
The half-day trip to El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen was very nice. We enjoyed both sites and were impressed by the immensity, but also austerity of the palace. Seeing the royal pantheon where 400 years worth of royalty are buried is incredible. Would definitely recommend as a day trip from Madrid.

Doing what: Madrid Super Saver: El Escorial Monastery and Toledo Day Trip from Madrid
El Escorial monastery morning trip was brilliant. Our tour guide, Carmen was informative and had a great sense of humour. The sites were better than expected especially the mausoleum of the Spanish Kings and Queens. Unfortunately, we included the lunch before proceeding to the afternoon in Toledo. The restaurant was close to the travel agency in Madrid. The food was truly awful and the uneasiness lasted for a day. Toledo was very interesting especially the El Greco painting but the trip did feel rushed and the mandatory visit to the steel factory / museum shop was disappointing.

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
Trip departed late, waiting for the bus, then traffic delayed us another half hour. Tour guide did well for moving quickly but was rushed to make scheduled lunch back in Madrid. I wonder what we skipped to make the on time return?

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
This was an excellent tour and the guide was lovely. Escorial was a beautiful place and well worth the visit. There wasn't much time at the Valley of the Fallen but it was still worth a visit. The basilica and cross are astounding to see.

Doing what: Madrid Super Saver: El Escorial Monastery and Aranjuez Day Trip from Madrid
This trip actually is a two-part excursion provided by two different guides in two different buses. El Escorial itself is impressive but they take straight into the building. The scale of the building is so immense that it can be viewed only from some distance. The tour operator should adjust this visit to give tourists full impression this grandiose monument. Aranjuez is a jewel for those into baroque and palace architecture although the premises of the palace are run down.

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
The tour was great, beautiful place. The tour guide was great explaining the history. Didn't like the fact that they don't pick you up at the hotel. And in El Escorial they do not give you time to walk around the town.

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
The Escorial was well worth a visit and our guide was very friendly and helpful. We would have preferred to have spent more time there, looking at the other apartments but time was limited, as we also had to see the Basilica of the Valley of the Fallen. The woodland valley views there were dramatic.

Doing what: El Escorial Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen from Madrid
The trip was well worth seeing! The guide could have been a bit more informative and instructive to the group. she was somewhat abrupt and didn't appear as organized as the other guides.

They didn't give us time to see the gardens.
