Multi Day Tours from Madrid
Madrid's crowded shopping streets, lively tapas bars and all-night parties might make it difficult to leave, but the capital’s central location makes it the perfect base for exploring the rest of the country. Buses and trains run from here to all of Spain's major cities and resorts, but to make the most of your journey, hire a car or join a guided multi-day tour to uncover the country’s rich history, religious heritage and Mediterranean backdrop.

One of the most popular tour routes is to follow the route of the legendary protagonist Don Quixote, and head south to Andalucia. Here you can visit a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens in Granada, you can explore ancient city of Toledo, marvel at the medieval architecture of Cordoba and you can even uncover Seville’s Arabic heritage while wandering the Guadalquivir Riverfront. If it’s sunbathing and surfing you’re after, a quick detour will land you at Costa del Sol, the 'sunshine coast,' home to some of the country’s most popular beaches and the departure point for ferries to the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco.

Alternatively, a sojourn up the east coast offers incredible views over the Mediterranean. Along the way you'll be able to stop in major cities like: Valencia, famous for its City of Arts and Sciences and Silk Exchange; Barcelona, where you can marvel at the Gaudi architecture and enjoy nightlife to rival Madrid's; and Zaragoza, with its impressive Aljaferia Palace and medieval cathedrals.

If you've got time to spare, you don't even have to stay in the country with activities like hiking along the French border in the northern Pyrenees mountains or heading west to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Salamanca. You can then duck into Portugal or visit Andorra, one of Europe’s smallest countries at a mere 468 square km, where there are numerous options for hiking in the mountains.

Great tour for the time poor! More time could easily be spent in each destination to make the experience less rushed, but I only had 5 days and I was very pleased with the service. I missed the departure and the office in Madrid could not have been more helpful to assure I got onto the fast train to Cordoba and met the group! Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Doing what: 4-Day Spain Tour: Cordoba, Seville and Granada from Madrid

This was a fantastic trip. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get out of Madrid and see how beautiful southern Spain is. Our bus and driver were wonderful as was our guide. We stayed at the 4 star hotels, but the 3 star hotels were very good as well, according to other people on our tour. This was our second trip with Viator while in Spain and we also used their shuttle services from the airport to our hotel and then back to the airport. Viator was very easy to work with and their business was easy to find being located across the street from the statues of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza at the Plaza de España. When traveling in the future, I will always check Viator’s website to see what they have available wherever I travel.
