Day Trips from Manila

If it's recreation in a natural setting that you're seeking, the first place to set your sights on is Pagsanjan Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines. The up-river boat tours that lead to the falls are the primary attraction, and while they're a little pricey (in upwards of 1,000 PHP per person), it's these journeys that make the area one of the most popular tourist destinations outside of Manila. Pagsanjan is accessible via bus from Manila's Buendia bus terminal. The trip takes 2-3 hours and costs less than 200 PHP. Buses leave frequently, but it's advisable to depart early.
Another good day trip is a dash to Anawangin Cove and beach in San Antonio, Zambales. Known as one of the best beaches in the country, Anawangin is definitely popular, but the somewhat difficult trek to both the beach and cove keep it less crowded than you might think. You can access the area by bus from Manila for less than 300 PHP, and there are ample opportunities for camping if you’re on a budget (or simply enjoy the outdoors) and wish to stay the night. You can also opt for more luxurious lodging in Pundaquit.
Other popular excursions include an assent up Mount Pinatubo, a trip to Tagaytay City (from which you can access the beautiful Taal Volcano, and an excursion to the tadpole-shaped Corregidor Island).
