We had French people travelling with us and only 3 who spoke english. Most of the journey was translated in French so the English speakers felt left out.
Beach was beautiful, but the eating places were not brilliant.
We were shown around the streets, which is not as a pretty sight like the beach or the main roads.
Overall rating 3 out of 5
First of all, regarding pick-up from "selected hotels", I had assumed that because my riad was in the medina, that it would be included in the pick up, but apparently if you book online you will only be picked up from "central" hotels in the new city area, not from the Medina. Tourists who book directly through their riad/hotel in the Medina will be picked up, but they pay a higher rate. This caused us a problem as we had to travel to the Viator office in the "new city" at our own expense and our taxi driver, who was late picking us up, dropped us off in the wrong place. We finally made it to the coach and visited various historic sights. Many of the people with us in the morning had booked the "historic tour". They left us at lunch time and we went on to lunch at a restaurant, Dar Es Salaam. Service was slow and food was bland, but the surroundings were attractive. The afternoon tour consisted of the souks and the tanneries, factories, etc. You were not given the opportunity to buy anything at the market stalls, but were taken to a particular gift shop (like a fair trade shop?) where you could purchase, although there was no huge pressure to buy. All in all, it was a long day and the next day I had blisters on my feet! With hindsight, I would have booked separate half-day tours through my riad and ensured transport to the tour coach was included. Otherwise, the content of the tour was interesting.
This made for a pleasant evening. Food was plentiful, but a little bland. The show was interesting and the horse riders skilful. Would have been better value if we had been picked up from our riad.
A ride that should be done. Provides insights into the valleys and snowy mountain in the distance, takes you to a visit into the home of a family living in a primitive form, and another visit to a manufacturing plant of Argan oil (olio d'argan).
The guide behaviour, which means essentially lack of politness and excessive informality spoiled all the tour. Not a lot of information on area specificities and history, only jokes. In fact, the tour guide seems not to be a professional guide.
Excellent tour. The best way to get to know Marrakech. Tour took us to hidden streets we could not reach by ourselves. Best tour guide ever: good communicator, knows a lot of history, respecful serious and responsible. Some characteristics that were really difficult to find in many people ithe city.
The show is beautiful. The dinner is lively, ok. However it was extremely cold nad we were not prepared to be outdoor.
This was a trip to different shops that sold the products ten times the normal price so that the tour company would get commission. At least 4 hours in the afternoon were spent at different shops.
Nice dinner, average show. It would be better if the drinks were not at least 800 dirhams (8 Euros) each, that is as much as in the Royal Opera House in London. However, according to the Moroccan standards this was equivalent to £25 per drink in the UK.
Ali would go down in history as the best tour guide in Marrakech. This tour actually took around 9 hours but who cares! The lunch was absolutely amazing, sooooo much food! Ali - thank you so much for such a wonderful day - Karina and Claudia
An excellent day in every respect, interesting journey, just enough time at the womens cooperative which was interesting too. The short and informative guided tour was very good and the amount of free time just right. We chose to eat at the restaurant our guide suggested , it was right on the sea front and we were very happy with the food and service. The transport was excellent and our guide Larby added to the day with absolutely excellent Engish and pleasant manner.
Really enjoyed the day. Transport excellent with careful driver but would've helped a lot had he been able to speak some English. Disappointed with this, the English speaking guide was in another vehicle. Could've done without the pottery stop but these always seem inevitable. Berber house and restaurant great. Scenery amazing.
A good tour visiting some areas we would'nt have seen by ourselves. Lunch excellent in interesting restaurant. The group managed to stay together which was quite something cosidering the number of people and the chaotic area we were vsiting!. The guide spoke excellent English and was really very good but seemed to rather lose his grip of things after the totally unnecessary and much too long visit to a pharmacy type place....All in all we enjoyed the tour with the exception of the" oils " which as I said was far too long and really intensly boring in our opinion and many others we spoke to.
I would have given the tour a 5 * as the actual trip was brilliant. The guide was exceptionally well informed and interesting. We did however have some major issues with our booking, getting it confirmed when we arrived in Marrakesh. However I would hearily recommend it to everyone!
