Loved marseille. This tour takes you around the old port and to the beautiful notre dame de la garde. Wonderful.
A highlight of our trip to France was visiting the city of Marseille. The Count of Monte Cristo is both my daughter's and my favorite book. We were able to take the ferry over to the Chateau d'If and tour the prison. Talk about bringing the novel to life! The on/off city tour was interesting and the sights were beautiful.

Great tour!!! Buses were on time and excellent service. Drivers were very experienced with navigating the narrow streets!!!!! Great tour for sitting back and enjoying the awesome sights!!!!!
Not many attractions in Marseilles, but this bus is still a good deal if you only have 1 day. Can get great views of city on top deck, especially going up hills toward top of city. Beautiful panoramic pics.
Okay, but it was crawling with 3 cruise ship tourists 6,000 plus
and we found haven outside the tourist strip.
Not our favourite place and the Hop on-Hop off was full as.
Vieux Port is very picturesque and easy to walk. The Notre Dame De la Garde structure is amazing to include views of the city as well as the art work in the church. However, the signage for the tour stops is poor. Half of the signs are large (i.e. 12" x 12") but the other signs are about 4"x 4" and placed near or on public bus stop shelters.
There seemed to be only one bus working as we had to wait one hour and half to board the bus. We didn't dare hop off the bus in fear that we would not have seats available or the wait time would be lengthy.
We "hopped on" at the port at 1 pm, given a map, told something in french that we didn't understand. The driver drove around the block parked and told us it was his lunchtime and to come back at 3:30, and made everyone get off the bus. he gave us a schedule of times the bus comes to each destination. We returned at 3:30 and began our tour. Everything was fine until we decided to "hop off". It was at that time the bus driver told us that this was his last loop of the day, and that if we got off we would have to walk back to the town and the port. Even though the schedule had more pick up times on it. Some people that got on at one of the stops that they had been waiting 2 hours for a bus to return. So basically there is only one bus. This was a complete waste of our time.
Very knowledgeable guide ,Andrea. Made the whole tour informative and funny. We were a mixed group of nationalities and all able to understand the tour. We were seen safely back to our return transport, we had a taxi back. At the start of the day all the Viator tours are picked up at the cruise port were marshalled together onto coaches and then split up at Pompeii for our own individual tours, some were half day, some full day. This saved time and was efficient although one particular American lady appeared not to understand this , she needed to listen more.. she was an annoyance as the tour progressed but you always seem to get one !. We just ignored her. All in all I reccommend this tour, lots to see in a short time but as we had a ship to catch we opted for the more sedate half day tour.
Very easy to use and very friendly and helpful staff at the Tourist Info office. Thank you!

There wasn't enough time to make good use of the opportunities presented by the pass. Most of our time was spent having a wonderful lunch at the Old Port, and buying various soaps, for which Marseille is famous. We wanted to see the Roman docks museum, but did not succeed in finding it! A two -or-three day pass for an extended stay in Marseille would be used more.

Due to technical difficulties there was no audio on our bus. Our driver stopped twice. Had we not been sitting beside a lady that knew where she was we wouldn't have known where our stop was.
Poor. Wish we had not done it. No audio on tour and just a quick bus ride around town with no information. Waste of time and money
Really a zero rating for this trip. We bought our tickets online and were unable to find any hop on hop off buses. We spent about an hour wandering around the city waterfront area and failed to see any sign of the buses. Perhaps it was our fault that we did not know where they left from, but there was little evidence of how we could find them. Like our Monaco experience, a waste of 50 euros.
