Edgar Allen Poe House & Grave

For literature fans, entering the little rowhouse preserved as the Edgar Allen Poe House and Museum is a thrilling experience.

The famous author lived in the 5-room house in the 1830s, and a visit to the museum provides an atmospheric glimpse into the daily life of bygone times.

Edgar Allan Poe lies buried in nearby Westminster Hall Cemetery, originally in an unmarked grave. A monument to Poe was erected in 1875, 26 years after his death.

Practical Info

The Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum is on the western side of the city center. To get there from the Inner Harbor, follow Charles and Fayette Streets.

The grave of Edgar Allan Poe is in Westminster Hall Cemetery a few streets away to the east, on the corner of Greene and Fayette Streets.
