Its beaches, mountains and historic firsts have earned Maryland the nickname 'America in Miniature.' But it's the Chesapeake Bay region, including the state's largely rural Eastern Shore, for which the state is famous, and the reason that Maryland is a contender for the 'most oddly shaped state' award.

This water playground includes the gritty, boisterous seafaring city of Baltimore, the world-renowned sailing center of Annapolis and communities along the bay's coastline, as well as fishing, crabbing and every water-based pursuit imaginable.
