Once a little sugarcane town, tiny Paia was brought to world notice by the windsurfers who discovered its first-class waves. It’s now known as the windsurfing capital of the world.

The town’s old plantation-style wooden buildings are now home to funky bars and restaurants, craft shops, surf stores and art galleries.

The town’s windsurfing hub is nearby Ho'okipa Beach. Pull up a towel and watch the surfers in action, or head to calmer Baldwin Beach for a paddle.

Doing what: Maui Hana Coast Day Trip

This tour was excellent. The driver was extremely knowledgeable and we learned SO much about the history and culture of Maui. We made several stops for photos, plus extended stops at a black sand beach, the Seven Sacred Pools, a delicious organic farmers market lunch in Hana, and a wine tasting on the way back. It was great being able to sit back and enjoy the amazing views instead of having to drive. We also drove the "Back Road to Hana," which was a highlight for me, and a road that not many other people drive on their own. Highly recommended!!!

Doing what: Maui Hana Coast Day Trip

The tour guide was great! He was very knowledgeable about Maui and the history of the Hana and its agriculture and plant life. He took us to the Seven Sacred Pools, countless waterfalls, an organic farm to table for lunch, black beach sand, a free wine tasting vineyard, amongst others. He was a fountain of information. I learned so much that day, and saw so many beautiful sites!
