Nightlife in Medellín

Nightlife in Medellín
Being Colombia’s second city and newfound expat paradise, Medellín has a lot to prove. But with a rack of nightclubs playing everything from salsa and rock to reggaeton and vallenato (a popular Colombian genre not unlike American country music), plus a smattering of boisterous hole-in-the-wall bars that keep the libations pouring into the wee hours, Medellín nightlife is tough to beat.

Almost any night of the week, the party starts in and around Parque Lleras, a vibrant patch of green in the El Poblado district surrounded by bars and nightspots, as well as a few hotels and hostels. Some of the more popular nightspots in this area include the luxe B-Lounge and megaclub Babylon Discoteca, both featuring “crossover” music—a motley but danceable mix of salsa, vallenato, pop, and electronica.
