This tour was organized by a local tour company and our fantastic tour guide was Matt. I think for this price the tour was great and left me and my 23 companions with unforgettable memories. The shared accomodations were good first day in a hostel at the Great Ocean Road, 12 of us shared a room second night in the Grampians where 5 of us shared one nicely climatized room, and some of us even booked a night in the tent 20 cheaper, this option is not available via Viator. Just be prepared for some longer waiting times in front of the showers in the hostels but all accomodations are clean and comfortable don't forget your ear plugs!.
The food was also good- with exception of the junk food we got at our first stop at the Cape Otway Lighthouse- sausage solala, bland potatoe salads you can get better stuff in the supermarket..., and bread. They should make sure that there is something better left for us after all the one-day tours were there. The other lunches were much better you eat your own sandwiches and lots of veggies if you like, and the dinners were fantastic. First night pizza with the sunset at the beach, second night BBQ with tasty kangaroo meat in the Grampians.
Our tour guide Matt was very knowledgeable and be prepared for his jokes! No one will be spared! He gave us enough time at all stops unfortunately the couple who booked the helicopter flight around the 12 Apostels could not not take their flight since we were delayed due some bush fire detours and the long lines t the check-in- but they got refunded. I took more than 150 pictures...My personal highlight was our Mexican-standoff with the dog when we left the accomodation on the last day. Dog vs. Matt's bus: you will laugh a lot and not forget this :- Altogether a great and unforgettable trip- thanks Matt!!!
What an amazing three days with Bunyip Tours! Our small group became very tight-knit and our guide, Matt, was FANTASTIC. I had done a few larger tours in Melbourne alone with other tour companies (e.g. kayak tour of Melbourne, chocolate tour, Yarra Valley Wine Tour, Phillip Island, etc.) and had an okay experience; however, it was very difficult to make friends on the day tours I went on and very little individual attention was given to me and my fellow travelers by our guides on those trips. The Great Ocean Road Bunyip Tour was the last tour I did in Melbourne before heading to Sydney and I feared that once again it would be a very isolating experience. I was so wrong! I sat in the front seat with our guide (and new friend) Matt and learned that he had studied ecology in university and worked for many years as a park ranger. I study environmental studies at an American college and was excited to learn everything from an expert. Not only did Matt make the tour enjoyable with his humor and kindness, but also a wonderful learning experience. Matt carried mammal and bird guides for his passengers to read up on Aussie wildlife. He also shared information on Australian politics, history, and culture. I had spent a semester on an exchange program with James Cook University in Cairns, and feel like I learned more about Australia in those three days than my semester at uni! Additionally, Matt gave personalized attention to every passenger on the trip. I was impressed that he memorized everyone's name so quickly, and got along so well with everyone!
Regarding the trip itself, the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians are BEAUTIFUL! We also saw koalas, emus, kangaroos, and other animals in the wild. The hostels we stayed at the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians were fantastic. They were in great locations and were super clean! I actually couldn't believe they were hostels, because of how nice the facilities were. What a wonderful trip! Highly recommend doing it!
First of all, a great tour guide, driver and cook - Matt from Bunyip Tour, a very informative, knowledgeable, cheerful, funny and nice guy. You can't get a better tour guide other than Matt :)
Spectacular view along the great ocean road, a must go destination in Australia.
Grampians is another highlight of Australian natural scene, very interesting tour for people who love the nature, good amount of trekking, but it is worthwhile.
Overall, a very good experience and definitely worth the money and energy.
Excellent tour! probably the best way to explore the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians! Highly recommended!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent tour of the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians. Our guide, Steve, was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Our tour group was truly international and meshed perfectly. We would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone.

We had a good day out in the Grampians. The experience overall was very good, and I would recommend this to others. My only complaint was the driver -- we found him a little rude. Other than this, the experience was top notch and we would do this again on our next trip to Melbourne.
Loved every moment of the trip. Our tour guide, also the tour driver, was very informative. He made the trip more memorable. The MacKenzie Falls was worth the 400 steps to see it. Same with the Halls Gap - all the views of the Grampians were so breathtaking. Seeing the kangaroos up close and personal was worth the trip.
The tour was ok. Unfortunately the bus broke down and shortened the tour by 2-3 hours. We didn't get to see as much as hoped. However, the sites of the Grampians were beautiful and the tour host was lovely and polite.
