Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre
Not far from the magnificent Grampians area in Victoria is the township of Ararat and the excellent Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre.

The center tells the story of the Chinese immigrants who found gold in the area and went on to form a township that put Ararat on the map.

Incorporating the principals of Feng Shui and designed in a typical southern Chinese style, the Heritage Centre introduces visitors to the history and influence of Chinese culture in Australia through a series of interactive displays, presentations and artefacts.

Visitors are encouraged to make their own journey in search of gold and to relive the experience of the Chinese prospectors who undertook arduous journeys and risked everything in the hope of finding gold in the mid 1800s.
