With its pleasant climate and enviable location on the French Riviera along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Monaco is famous as a playground for the rich and famous. Still, its unique charms attract less wealthy travelers worldwide. It is best known for the opulent Casino de Monte Carlo, the annual Formula One Grand Prix race and the beautiful palace, gardens and harbor of old town Monaco-Ville.

Officially known as the "Principality of Monaco," Monaco is a sovereign city state headed by Prince Albert II, who assumed the crown in 2005 upon the demise of his father, Prince Rainier III (who famously married American actress, Grace Kelly). Surrounded on three sides by France, compact Monaco is the second smallest and most densely populated country in the world. Despite its small size, between its lovely ancient hilltop and winding streets and a singularly modern luxury, there is plenty to do and see in a few days!
