With fireworks blazing above the dramatically floodlit Monte Carlo Casino and sparks flying over the grand Saint Nicholas Cathedral and Prince’s Palace, Monte Carlo’s annual pyromelodic fireworks displays are nothing short of spectacular. Held every year since 1966, the International Pyromelodic Firework Competition is one of the most hotly anticipated events of the summer, with four shows held throughout July and August and competitors from around the world bringing their creative vision of fire, light and music to life, in hopes of snatching the winning title.
Whether you’re spending the summer months at one of Monaco’s glitzy resorts or cruising along France’s famous Cote d’Azur coast, you won’t want to miss the showstopping displays. Some 200,000 spectators turn out for the free events, with crowds lining the seafront promenade and waterfront bars, but the most atmospheric place to view the fireworks is from the water. Opt for a fireworks cruise from Monaco and you’ll not only get a prime view of the night’s entertainment, but you’ll spend two hours on board a private luxury yacht, sipping Champagne and gazing out over the glittering Monte Carlo skyline.
