The Martha Brae River is the tranquil home of river rafting in Jamaica, the best way to discover the country's tropical interior.

Guided tours include refreshment, lunch and lagoon swim stops, and quite often the guided rafting trips pass riverside crafts stalls.

Rafts are ecologically friendly, made from bamboo, and the trips along the river pass Luminous Lagoon, where a natural phenomenon causes the water to glow.

While you're here, pay a visit to the port of Falmouth on the river estuary, known for its seafaring heritage.

Great tour! We had a wonderful driver who drove us to all these places. ALong the way he explained things and history about Jamaica which I wasnt expecting. Our tour didnt include lunch but he brought us to a place he recommended and even carried out trays for us. He didnt eat with us, I wish I had asked him to. He was so polite. The rafting tour was a lot of fun, we had a guy who was very animated and funny. The only negative part was that I wasnt aware that the rafters obviously expect a tip but they also hand carve coconuts and want to sell them to you along the way. We werent prepared for that so we didnt have any money and he got a little upset about it. We still tipped him but he was clearly expecting to sell a coconut. You dont get wet on the raft which is nice and it was a relaxing beautful ride.
The Falls were absolutley stunning, I was not expecting them to be as big as they were. You absolutely need to bring water shoes for this part. I actually had to back out last minute because I was 8 weeks pregnant and wasnt expecting the falls to be as big and I was too scared off slipping. Even if you dont do it, it was still amazing to see this!

Doing what: Luminous Lagoon Night Cruise in Jamaica

Wow-if you're really into the wonders of nature, then you really need to take this tour. We swam in the lagoon, and it is a thrill to see the water light up all around you, and to glisten on your body even as you get out. We were told the affects are much more brilliant in the summer-Awesome!!
