2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better Review by Margarita R, March 2013
Doing what: Montreal City Guided Sightseeing Tour

Our tour guide was AWESOME!

I took my parents (who were visiting from out west) on a tour of Montreal, since I haven't had the chance to see much of it myself, and we learned quite a lot and got to see some amazing things. I appreciated the tour guide and the photo stops, but this tour was certainly lacking in many respects and didn't live up to expectation.

1. This was billed as a 3 hour tour, but we were back at our hotel after 2.5 hours.
2. The bus wasn't as clean as it could have been, and the windows weren't washed, meaning that we couldn't see as much of the city sights as we wanted. On the website this is billed as a tram tour, and so being in a bus -- that wasn't heated very well -- was a disappointment.
3. Since we still had 30 minutes left, I felt like we should have been able to take more photo stops at Old Montreal, or perhaps stopped at a few more churches that were pointed out to us.
4. It would have been better if our tour guide weren't also our driver, as I was apprehensive about asking questions whilst the bus was moving for fear of distraction.

It's an easy way to see the city; our tour guide's sense of humour was right up my alley; the hotel pick-up and drop-off was great and very convenient; and we learned a lot about the city in a short amount of time. That said, I wouldn't go again unless we were a) guaranteed the same tour guide; b) guaranteed a different route; and c) guaranteed the full 3 hours with more photo stops.

Doing what: Christmas Walking Tour in Old Montreal

A wonderful way to explore Old Montreal during the holidays! Though it was a bitterly cold night (-14c!) our guide made the tour possible by keeping us inside as much as possible. We explored the historic shopping arcades and beautiful buildings of Montreal and learned about the history of Christmas and the influence of the church in this fascinating region of Canada. Our guide was informative, friendly and fun - we even finished the tour with some delicious cheese and wine! Thoroughly recommended.

Doing what: Walking Tour of Old Montreal or Downtown Montreal

Great way to get to know the city in a short amount of time. If you have time, take both tours (East and West Old Montreal), one in the morning and one in the early afternoon. Both are very interesting. Our guide, Sara M., was wonderful: Very knowledgeable and kind. I definitely suggest making the time for it, when offered.

Excellent tour. We learned about the history of Montreal as our guide led us through the streets of old Montreal. Our guide was knowledgeable, full of personality, and made the 90 minutes seem to fly.

Doing what: Flavors of Old Montreal Walking Tour

I've been on a walking food tour in our home city of Chicago (which is also a great food city, by the way!), but this tour in Old Montreal was really something special. Our guide Ronald Poire was witty and knowledgeable, helping us understand more of the history of Historic Montreal. The charm of the city comes through in the food samples, starting the day with macaroons and hot coffee, sampling some different pates and cheeses, and finishing with some delicious maple syrup gelato. A great way for new comers to get an intimate look at one of the most romantic and people friendly parts of Montreal.

Doing what: Walking Tour of Old Montreal or Downtown Montreal

I would recommend every tourist to start off their trip with a tour like this. Old montreal is very pretty even otherwise, but with someone to guide you and explain the how and why of it, the little area just gets transformed. Our guide did a great job of taking us through the history of old montreal and he was the right amount of friendly, funny and knowledgeable.

Doing what: Walking Tour of Old Montreal or Downtown Montreal

A great way to start our vacation in Montreal! We got history and trivia --injected with a little humor-- in our tour guide. The tour was short enough that we could then go back and explore Old Montreal on our own afterward. It would have been nice to have a small map that showed the path we had covered on the tour.

Fantastic way to see Old Montreal as soon as you arrive. After you see and hear about all there is available for you the rest of your trip will plan itself out. Loved our guide who was passionate and well educated about all around us. So glad we planned this on our first day!

When you show up at the meeting point they let you know there are two possible walking tours of Old Montreal, the west side and the east side. You pay for only one.
I recommend the east side.
The tour guide was excellent!!

This tour is the perfect way to begin your visit to Montreal. It will give you a good overview of Old Montreal so that you can plan to return to some of the locations to see more at your leisure. The pace was good, even for my girlfriend who was 8 months pregnant, and the tour guide was excellent!
The only thing we didn't realize was that there are 2 tours available - one for the east side and one for the west side - so we only did one. I would suggest booking both!

Thank you Viator for a wonderful experience! Our walking tour of Old Montreal was very informative and fun. The guide was excellent!

Thoroughly enjoyable 90 minute walk. We had a small group of 10 and a most knowledgeable guide. Best way to see and learn about Old Montreal.

I was disappointed to learn upon checking in that our Old Montreal walking tour was divided in half and made into two tours, the East and the West. Naturally there would be an extra cost to take the second half. Otherwise, the guide was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor.

We had a great time on this walking tour of Old Montreal. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The tour lasted a little longer than I anticipated, but it was definitely worth it. I only gave three stars because if I had known the tour would be closer to 2hrs long rather than one, I would have planned accordingly.

Our tour guide was terrific. A small group of 3 created an tour that was very intimate, informal and informative. Our four food stops provided us with a perfect opportunity to capture the flavor of Old Montreal. We highly recommend this tour and we will take it the next time we visit Montreal. .
