Guide was fun and knowledgeable. Met some great people in our group and had beer with them at the end. The guide was not feeling very well and could not go to the final destination with us (Hofbrauhaus). The museum was much better than I thought it would be. It's in a very small house/tavern/restaurant that is very old.
My travel buddy and I were very fortunate to be the only ones on the tour with Amanda. It was a blast learning about not only the history behind Octoberfest and the city, but you get to taste beer, go through the beer museum and drink more beer! I love how you finish up at the Hofbrauhaus where you can stay until closing! Great way to kick off your first evening in the city! Thanks Amanda for a great tour!
Again, this was run by a "Sight Seeing" tour group, and that was what it was. A bunch of sight seeing - drive by - without much substance. The dinner at the Hofbrauhaus was a major disappointment. A piece of pork in a bowl with some gut of some sort. That was it. Would have been better if the tour had charged more and given us an opportunity to have a real meal. The food looked great, but we were not able to order something we wanted.
Munich in the Evening and supper at the Hofbrauhaus was excellent. We enjoyed it very much. The Olympia Park gave me an excellent view of the city of Munich.
The tour guide for my first night in Germany was horrible. She was very rude when we were asking questions on the food menu before we left for the Hofbrauhaus and basically gave us only 3 choices. She then proceeded to leave a younger group of about 8 tourists at the hall b/c they were in the bathroom when she told the group it was time to go. Even after the whole tour said we were ok to wait for them on the bus. We were then taken to the 'club' to have our free drink, where she barked at us to not leave the designated area for any reason. And for that reason as well as her being so rude and inconsiderate, me and my fiance took our free drink and left the tour altogether, as we werent about to be rushed about on our night. I dont recommend this particular tour for the price nor the tour guide, it simply wasnt worth it for the experience. Just go to the Hofbrauhaus on your own, you will have a much better time. We did however have a wonderful experience with the same company with the Eagle's Nest tour, so dont discount the company as a whole, just beware of who the tour guide is!!!
Austin our tour guide, ironically from Texas, was excellent. Was very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Extremely patient with our 2 kids under the age of 10. We had a great time as well as the kids. We were able to taste test the local brewery and the kids taste tested the local apple juice in beer glasses making them feel a part of the group. Sadly we did not know that drinks were not included at the sit down meal. At the end of the evening you are released to use your new knowledge of beer on your own at the main Hofbrauhaus in Munich. Need to make sure you know how to get back to your destination on your own. You are not far but may need direction which Austin was glad to help.
Our tour had nine people, 7 Americans and two Brits us and was led by Austin. We visited the Beer Museum a bar for food and the finished at the famous Hofbrauhaus. It was an entertaining, enlightening and fun evening which I would theoroughly recommend. It helps if you like beer but its not essential.
All of the places traveled to were very interesting. Only fog and a tiny group hindered my experience, but the guide is knowledgeable, and the places are great, especially the Hofbrauhaus.
Tour was nice. Dinner at hofbrauhaus was very good. The drink at the hotel was nice but there was no live music as advertised in the tour brochure.
Nice intro to German beer and food! We got to sample four different beers during the tour and had a platefuls of food at Hofbraukeller consisting of pretzels, bread, about 4 different kinds of sausages, different types of cheeses, pickles, etc. Finished the tour at Hofbrauhaus in which 10 of us kept drinking liters of beer till it closed! Had a blast with the people on the tour. It says not to eat before the tour but you don't eat till like 3 hours into the tour, so I would eat a little something because we were all starving. There was a lot of food at the restaurant though, but beers aren't included from the restaurant on.
This tour is a must do! It starts with a free beer at the tour office, which is very easy to find, and then another three free beers at the beer museum. All tasted great and I'm not even a beer drinker normally. The food platters at the first beer hall were huge and there was so much food we couldn't even finish it. The tour guide then leaves you at Hofbrauhaus to party on. Our Irish guide was fantastic - a great way to experience Munich!
This is a rip off. One drink in the Hofbrauhaus. Very poor food. We left after having tried to complain to the tour guide, suddenly she lost her hearing and her command of the English language. Don't give it a second thought.
