Enclosing Munich's central square Marienplatz, the Old Town Hall, Altes Rathaus in German, serves as the center for city council activity for the historic city. The Old Town Hall is also known for its architechture style change from Baroque to Gothic after the structure was bombed during World War II.
The interior is a masterpiece of medieval design with golden stairs, decorated beams, and a frieze of Munich's multiple coats of arms. The Grand Hall is decorated with the figures of Erasmus Grasser's Marisco Dancers. The tower of the Old Town Hall is now home to the Toy museum, a childhood collection by Ivan Steiger.

Doing what: Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour
Such a convenient way to see the city. I saved the Royal Palace for the end of the day, that allowed me time to take a walking tour in the morning at the Marienplatz stop,which I also recommend doing. There is a tour office right under the clock,actually there are tour guides all over the square. Study the pick up times for each stop to make the best of your time, and make sure you know the last pick up time for the day.

Doing what: Munich Bike Tour
Iain was an amazing guide, he was full of information that ranged from historiacial fact, sarcastic commentary, to local fun stuff. He knew so many tourist stops as well as local hideouts.There was plenty of time to explore Munich's outskirts. Great length and plenty of breaks with the opportunity to have a drink stop.
Practical Info
The subway stop at Marienplatz makes it a center of pedestrian traffic, and markets often surround the area near Altes Rathaus.
