As the Christmas markets pack up and Santa heads back to the North Pole, Germany’s most festive city gears up for the final party of the holiday season. Munich’s reputation as a party city is cemented on New Year’s Eve, or Silversterabend in German, and the whole city erupts into spirited celebrations.

If you want to splash some cash and ring in the New Year in style, Munich is the place to do it, with hotels and restaurants all over the city hosting special dinners, bars overflowing with champagne cocktails and dozens of nightclubs blasting music until the sun comes up.
